Re: Sensory Overload

Unfortunately yes...

Several years ago I suffered from foot in mouth syndrome where I posteed wwaaaaayyyy too much personal info on this site. Some was used against me, and some was used for the entertainment of others (to make fun of me and my situation). As much as it was necessary to help me get past the anger/frustration I was feeling back then (to post everything), I wish I had not put all of my cards on the table, since some people have no sense of compassion or understanding for other people. Or to call a spade a spade, are just plain mean.

I hear you. I put a lot out thre b/c it helped me cope and feel more trusting but a lot of it has been displaced.

Re: Sensory Overload

I always feel like I'm on sensory overload when I am in the stores and see a lot of different things, I get overwhelmed by too many choices.

Wedding gown shopping was like that. Too many choices. Too much out there. Very confusing.

I agree, I do too.

Do you ever feel like there's too much information out there about you? Like you're so exposed you're practically raw?

Not really. Sure, with alittle research and/or hacking, you could find out my name, phone, ss#, etc, but the more abstract personal stuff isn't really out there, well at least for me. Sometimes you just have to draw the line.

I feel like that sometimes in school - I tend to be very open with my students and at times, I feel like I've told them too much.....and maybe I shouldn't have shared with them my obsession with Johnny Depp......

Not really. I sometimes feel I say too much - I get nervous sometimes and babble and wish I hadn't revealed so much in the aftermath...but as for personal info, no not really.

I agree when you have people that know too much if you can't trust them. I have people in my life that will use information against you that you tell them or they find out about. That's why I like to be by myself most of the time.

Duh, I read this wrong. I thought you were just talking about information AROUND you and not ABOUT you.

I don't think there is that much information about me out there floating around. I DO think there is just a lot of information in general.
If someone is bored or really has a desire to find out more, I think it is all there, but I don't fear for my privacy.

I misread the post by the way. I used to also, but not so much any more. I am careful what I say now, I think I don't say enough now. Oh well...

Also, I do feel that way sometimes, I get a little freaked out about stuff like that b/c I have heard so many stories. I try to be careful though, with that in mind.

-sorry, didn't mean for this to be in quotes.
