Re: Spending Habits

Believe it or not, my DH and I take all the change in my pockets and any $1 bills and put it in a jar at the end of the day. Suprisingly there is a couple hundred plus every month.

Re: Spending Habits

although i should, my spending habits have not changed. i am sporadic w/ my spending and tend to go on sprees. i am now addicted to ebay. in the 2 weeks i spent $280 and currently bidding on $325 worth of items. my account is linked to my work email and the packages are delivered before DH comes home. if he only knew.

I haven't been asked too- my FH will provide all of the money for the down payment

my money is for me mostly- I do buy food and pay the cable and eletric bill

he pays the rent and he will pay the mortage

Re: Spending Habits

It took most of our money to buy the house. We were left with some in the bank but we ended up buying some furniture with some 0% for 12 months deals. That worked well. Our money is just that-our money, but I am the budget pay the bills person.

It takes a while to accumulate enough money to totally decorate the house. We did some things to the house when we first moved in and now we are changing things around. New paint, higher grade furniture, finally a dining room set.

Also now we are putting in new windows and re-doing the patio so some capital improvements as well.

It takes time and we refuse to stop living our lives. There has to be a balance.

Re: Spending Habits

Oh yes, have my spending habits changed .. especially over the past couple of years as gas prices have soared beyond belief.

It's getting to where I feel I can't keep up .. and we're going to be taxed & surcharged right out of our house!!!

Seriously .. how do they expect people to continue to get by when it seems like every business is struggling and on the verge of collapse while cost of living continues to escalate at astronomical rates??!!

Can't wait for November .. as Keyspan has said bills will be going up 30%!!

I'm already working THREE jobs! What else am I supposed to do??? I'm wearing clothes that are several years old .. and when I do buy new .. $15 for a new top is expensive .. I try not to go over $9 .. and forget pants .. I can never find a good sale on them. And can someone please explain to me why bras are so darn expensive???!!

When I find good sales at the supermarket .. I stock up. Hubby & I both bring lunch to work .. and neither of us eats breakfast.

We have cut back drastically on going out to eat. Though we will sometimes bring dinner home (Chinese, Ruby Tuesday, etc) .. we don't eat out anywhere near what we used to.

All these cost-of-living increases is making life very depressing .. it's sad when you're a homeowner but can't enjoy your home. Forget about trying to do any improvements .. we're just keeping our fingers crossed that we can make it month-to-month on our bills.

Truthfully I haven't changed them too much! FH & I made sure that prior to purchasing our home, we could afford our house & the bills without changing much!

I do agree though, we have spend more $$ now with the house! In one day we spent over $3K on furniture & $500 for cleaning supplies

Cutting back just so we can do more inside the house only equates to not going to dinner as much & not spending as much on presents for holidays....

Re: Spending Habits

We didn't have to change too much through our first few years in the house either.

It wasn't until the past 2-3 years that things have really become rough, and just keep getting more depressing with each passing month as everyone keeps raising things on us .. property taxes, insurance, gas, electric .. like I said, these repeated increases over time are going to price us out of our home if they continue.

We always brought our lunch from home during the week and I am a bargain hunter from birth so thats how we got the house in the first place LOL.

Now that we live togther, we only eat out 1x a week max and we put a lot of our extra money into fixing up our home

I have since we got the apartment. All I do is save. I haven't bought myself something (unless it is a neccesity) in ages!
