Wow, I'd have to say that 62K is alot. But it depends on what kind of a wedding you're having, what time of day, what time of year, etc. Our budget is between 25-30K depending if you're counting the HM. But we're having a smaller wedding, only about 100-150 ppl. I think you should def setup a budget but you're very fortunate getting help from your parents.

62K is alot, but it all depends on what your paying for each vendor. Most of us are paying for the wedding ourselves so our budgets are much less than that. I know mine is WAY less than that. You're lucky to have parents that will share the costs, be greatful for that. I don't think there is a set amount for 'too much' or 'too little' it all depends on individual tastes and what you can afford. You can probably save money by negotiating with and/or doing more comparison shopping on vendors. Good luck!!!

62k for how many guests?
I am budgeting about 30k for 175 guests which includes tax and tip but excludes our wedding rings and honeymoon.

The most frightening thing about the wedding costs is that we wont have it towards a DP for a house.
IMO, $62k isnt a shocking number. I would say its in the ballpark for LI/NYC. Maybe on the high end but in the ballpark nonetheless.

Re: is this average?
as far as average goes, maybe this article will help. There is a table at the bottom which breaks down average costs on a 60k wedding. maybe this well help you gauge where you are at.
'the average cost of a wedding in the U.S. is now between $18,000 and $21,000. Of course, the costs vary greatly from region to region. He notes that in the elegant suburbs of Long Island, N.Y.the tab routinely reaches $40,000 to $50,000,'
Since my wedding is running about 25,000, yes I think 62,000 is high.

Re: is this average?
Including HM, we're looking at $60k, so no, it doesn't sound too high to me.
It stinks, but we're dealing with the high cost of everything.

I think that's above average. Set up a poll and see what everbody says. This way it's anonymous and you can get better stats.

Re: is this average?
It does depend on how many people- But I do know that Atlantic does have a large site fee I can tell you that were spending about 35K on 125 people ...just to give you an idea

Re: is this average?
I'm spending a LOT less than that with a 10K honeymoon (thank-you mom). FH & I are covering all the ceremony & reception costs. But, I'm doing a Sunday evening, not a Saturday, and my expected attendee number is only 125. So to me 62K seems like an lot of money.
But, if you can afford it, and your dreams are coming true, then go for it.

To me that is a lot. Our wedding will be about half of that. But if you can afford it, then who is to say what is right?

yes, to me thats a lot. try to look at it this way, if your parents weren't paying for it, would you spend that much on your wedding?

Re: is this average?
I think you are above the average. Alot of factors come into play though - like day vs night, summer vs winter, # of guests. I am paying less than you for 150-180 guests in the summer, but in the afternoon.

IMO, that is above average. But you are having your wedding at Atlantica on a Saturday so that may be where the majority of the cost comes from (depending how many ppl you're having). Atlantica is beautiful by the way!!!
Ours is over $20k less and it's a sat night in June for 250 ppl. Including everything but honeymoon.

I agree with Jess, its not bad for what you get at Atlantica, but higher than the average.

Re: is this average?
We dont have a budget either and it is going to cost us over 62K... I am scared to add up everything. I dont think that is average... to be honest.. I wish I did not have to invite so many people.. but I have a large family and so does he.
