Someone had mentioned it is against the law to charge
Do a search on the board. I believe this was discussed a few months back.

hand cancelling
So besides all the other little things we need to be worried about, this is another one on the list?? WOW I see why some ladies get emotionally drained planning for a wedding! Is this really necessary? Do invitees really critique the way the envelopes appear coming from the post office?

hand cancelling
Invitations are expensive and the last thing I would want is an insensitive postal worker covering my beautiful calligrapher's work or ruining my envelope. I equate it to someone tossing around a package that's marked fragile! I won't be able to control things once the envelopes are mailed, but I am going to make every effort (nicely) to have my invitations treated with TLC (at least in front of me!).

hand cancelling - my experience...
I have to laugh, b/c my father is a retired postal employee and he was always shocked when other employees complained, b/c he says it was the easiest job in the world! I went to the North Wantagh PO after work the week of Christmas...the line was out the door...and the people were nothing but nice to me...I think it does matter where you go. I know the Greenlawn PO (where I grew up) is extremely nice as well. I actually asked him if it would get crushed if it went though the machine. He said it would fit fine, but since it was very busy, he gave me 2 stamps...one to hand cancel...and one to make fragile (i think that prevents other PO employees from running it through the machine) I don't think invitees care, so don't get too mervous about it...but if it makes you happy inside, its worth it... I don't know if you can get to either of these PO for the wedding invites, but maybe someone can recommend one with extra friendly employees!!Welcome New Vendors
