I work and go to school. I usually make at least one thing during the week... like chili or what ever and freeze it.
I get home around 530 or so, but we don't eat until 730-8 because of Vic's commute from NYC. It gives me time to cook.

I work. I cook, but Victor's not even home, so I can cook at 9PM if I want. I cook for his dinner the next day. I also cook 'semi-homemade'. I adore Uncle Ben's microwaveable rice bags. And I have a tupperware microwave steamer for veggies.

When I 'used to' cook before being PG, I cooked for 2 days (4 meals). I steamed veggies. I have a compact electric steamer that works great and it's done by the time the meat was cooked (usually chicken). I used 2 pans and made 2 kind of chicken dish.
For Holiday cooking or big meals (if I dare on weekends!!), I used my food-saver (vacuum system). I put some in the fridge and freeze some of it. Great grap and go for lunch. Just cut a corner of the bag and put in microwave and it's juicy!!!

I commute from long island to the city so I leave my house at 7 am and i come back home about 12 hours later(anywhere from 6:30 - 8pm)
On Sundays I will make a big meal, like a lasagna or meatloaf that should keep for a couple of meals during the week. Normally I just take out some chicken or fish, microwaveable veggies and couscous since it takes 5 minutes to make. Or a make it yourself pizza, boboli premade crust.
If I dont want to cook when I get home, then hopefully the leftovers will suffice or I always have a lean cuisine, pierogies (an SM fave) or cereal for me on hand.

Re: Women who cook, spinoff to veggie spinoff
This is such a good question. Currently I am in a job that has retarded long hours. I feel bad bheing a recent bride that I NEVER cook for me and DH, I mean never. I actually had Tuesday off and I made dinner. DH laughed, bc it's such an infrequency.
For me it almost feel like more work to cook. I have to go to the supermarket, get stuff, find pans, etc.
What kind of meals are you guys making. I need ideas!

On weeks that I end up cooking a lot, it's because of the prep work SM and I do on Sundays. It saves so much time.

Re: Women who cook, spinoff to veggie spinoff
it's simple...we eat very late.
yesterday we finished dinner around 10 pm, which is late, even for us...but we usually don't eat until around 8:30, 9 pm every night.
SM is an avid runner, and I less avidly go to the gym after work. I leave the office bet. 6:30 and 7 most nights...go to the gym, then traipse to the supermarket go home cook. eat. do dishes. crash on the couch for a bit.
good times.

I cook when Jimmy's mom isn't here. I use my slow cooker or I do a quick Chinese style meal (a kind of stir fry) during the week. Weekends are more grab and go so I keep some frozen meals available too.

I usually cook up a bunch of chicken breasts on the weekend with different seasonings, then freeze them for the week. I try to have the chicken meals every other day and do something a little more creative in between, involving pork chops, beef, Italian, or soup and salad. HB (I liked the Honey Buns abbreviation) likes meat at every meal, though! I make fish at least once a week and we've been loving that. I also do the Boboli pizzas with lots of fresh veggies on the weekend sometimes.
I also bake or boil a bunch of potatoes or sweet potatoes in advance OR make pasta, rice, or couscous as the evening's side dish, along with frozen vegetables.
I usually get home from work around 6pm. BUT any day now, I'm going to have to get back in the gym habit, which will throw off the schedule.
If we're in a pinch, I scramble up some eggs with cheese and salsa. YUM!

We had been wondering if that food-saver thing worked well. So you'd recommend it, then?

I have the older model. It's great! You have to let the meat set a bit though or the juice get sucked out of the bag.

Actually, my honey likes it when the juice gets sucked out of his meat.

I cook at least three/four times a week / at least every other day, if not every day.
I'm out of the house from 7am to 8pm everyday. DH waits for me to have dinner together, even if it's not ready until 9pm.
