Re: Were you looking for 'the one' or did he just show up?

One might say signing up for match.com would mean I was looking for 'the one,' but honestly, I just wanted to go on more dates. I NEVER thought I'd meet the man I would eventually marry.

heh, he just started to work in our lab.... we didn't even give each other a second thought until I was about to leave..... about 6 months later!

I guess we were in a seperate category:

I agree! I had spent over a year dating a bunch of 'ehhh ok' guys, so I signed up for Match. I figured if they had to answer all those questions, they have to have a good head on their shoulders. FH was the second person I met, I really wasn't expecting to meet the man I would spend the rest of my life with via email!

I definitely was not looking. FH and i were friends first and we were both dating other people when we met. But we just got along soooo well that we were perfect for each other.

I met him the first weekend of the summer in Fire Island. We had shares in the same house. I was dating someone else at the time and just looking to have a fun summer. Within a few weeks, I broke up with the guy I was with and the rest is history!

I wasn't looking for anything more than 'one night stands'....hehehehe... I just broke up from a long term relationship and was a bit bitter. I didn't think I would fall in love EVER again! I met FH online and when we met in person, it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. Something about him, attracted me to him so badly, I knew then, he was the ONE!

I wasn't really looking for anyone at all! I was 18 and enjoying the independence of being in college, and he showed up, we hit it off, and that was it. Never expected to meet 'the one' at that point in my life.

I thought I was, but was looking in the wrong places. Meantime, we were friends the whole time, and I wasnt looking at him... until one day I did. And that was that!

I wasn't even looking--I was in a serious relationship with someone else, and so was he! But the more time we hung out as friends, the more we realized the other relationships s ucked and that we were right for each other!

FH and I have beeen friends for 10 years. According to him he always liked me but I never noticed! About a year and a half ago I was getting out of a seriously stupid relationship and swore off men! Then 4 months later I started looking at him differently, he said we both had things we needed to work on about our selves at the time and he was right. Then we went on a vacation together (other people were supposed to go, but canceled last minute) Thats when we started dating and realized we never wanted to be wothout one another again!

I definitely wasn't interested in finding the one - I was in my last semster of college and I met him in a club in DC (I know! ) He was hot and in the Marines and stationed at the Pentagon. We were having fun for a few weeks and suddenly realized that we were madly in love. Now, we have been together for 7 years which includes him going away to Japan for a year and eventually getting out of the Marines, going to grad school at Columbia, moving back to NY permanently, buying a house and now we are finally ready to get married and travel!

He promised me 6 months after we started dating (and right before he got sent to Japan) that he was going to marry me (he was actually going to propose when I went to visit him in Japan in Jan 01, but didn;t) - well, I guess it took a little longer than that, but he was well worth the wait!! :

he TOTALLY fell in my lap when I was least expecting it!! I was working on getting over a gut wrenching breakup. I had just decided to take a dating hiatus for awhile to fully heal my heart when my roommate invited him to our Christmas party. FH and I went to the same church for years and never met! I told him when I met him that I was taking a break from dating, but he pursued anyway! Good thing!!

no not at all... I was dating someone on and off and we always fought after that situation I swore against men for awhile...then shortly after (when I did not want to be in a relationship) I met FH and became friends then fell in love and have been inceperable since... that was in 2004...

Re: Were you looking for 'the one' or did he just show up?

awe ! these are great!

me and FH met right after high school graduation - even though we went to the same high school we did not meet till after!

i was on a double date with a cranky guy. my cranky date and my friend's date were friends with my FH so I guess the date wasn't going so well that it ended up like a hang out- they called him to meet us at the diner.

at the diner, I went out for a smoke and fh came with me to keep me company-even though he didnt smoke. we then made plans for a movie later that week. we only dated a few months after and then i got busy with college.

I was so NOT interested in him anymore for the next 3 years i actually avoided him! he kept calling 'just to say hi' Agh! it drove me nuts! meanwhile, i kept dating losers. my mom kept saying ' what happened to that nice boy' and then once he called around the holidays and my mom said 'wouldnt it be funny if you married him one day' i totally freaked out!! i thought 'ew gross!' but a few years later i realized he was exactly what i was looking for all this time and I called him.. 3 years later-he is my absolute best friend, i 've quit smoking, I graduate from grad school in may and we're engaged!!

hehehe its funny how things work out!
