So is this like a wedding, wedding, how is this seen?? why is this done?? If you do not say vows at your wedding, please explain to me what happens at your ceremony. I love to learn new things.

Shamma: This is all new to me too. My family is not accustomed to Engagement parties. Actually in Uruguay (where my family is from), engagements aren't really a big deal. However, they are in the Greek Tradition. In the Greek Tradition engagement is like being married. By having the rings blessed by a priest, you become 'offically engaged'
As for the wedding ceremony, GO tradition does not believe that marriage is a contract, but a becoming of one. Thus, no vows are said. The only thing the priest will ask us is if we have come by our own free will. So saying engagement vows was a big deal to me and it made everything EXTRA special.
