Welcome!!

1. No you don't need you...its your wedding you do what you want...and the flowers are toppers enough!
2. I think if you can fit it into your budget do it...if not don't feel like it is a must.
3. not having black tie...but I think it would look nice to have some other accent colors in there
4. no idea on this one....

1. No, I'm having a similar cake and don't want to 'ruin' it with a cake topper.
2. I plan to do this, I will have a lot of OOT and don't want anyone drinking and driving. That being said, I don't think it's necessary.

Hi! First I have to say you are getting married on my birthday, so you are automatically awesome in my book

As to your questions - for #1 and #3, it's your wedding and you should do whatever you want, not whatever anyone tells you is 'tradition.' You can still have a very classy affair with colored linens. If you don't want to go all the way you could do ivory or cream with a colored table runner (long or square) on each table. For #2, it's a nice thing to do like a previous poster said if you have a lot of OOT people, but it's not necessary if you can't fit it in. You can always help your OOTers out by linking them up with people in the area who will be driving.

Re. #4, it's definitely not necessary to have hand calligraphy! It can be very beautiful but also very expensive. If you have already splurged on your invites and want to make sure they are perfect, then go for it! Otherwise a high-quality computer calligraphy company (like inkspun.com) will do things with such a fancy printer that you can barely tell the difference.

Good luck and feel free to FM anytime!

1. My cake sounds similar to what you are doing. I don't have a cake topper and I don't think I'm getting one. It's really up to you but I don't think it would look like too much, depending upon the topper that is. In most scenarios, they put the topper next to the cake on the table anyway. Many of the toppers are too heavy to sit on the cake anyway.

2. Yes! Get a shuttle. Your guests will totally appreciate it and party more!

3. I personally do not think linen colors matter, but that's JMO. I don't know what etiquette says with regard to that but I have seen very formal weddings with red linens, green linens, etc.

4. I'm getting mine done by hand. However, as far as the laser is concerned, they have it so advanced that it looks like it's done by hand. Honestly, people look at it for .3 seconds and throw it out. Do whatever is easier for you.

Welcome!

1) I think the flowers will be so lovely on their own
2) shuttle is a nice to have, but i don't think ppl expect it
3) I don't know the ettiquette on that, but I don't see what's so egregious about a splash of color. I always thought the Black tie was more about the guests attire than about the party surroundings. I'm sure the formal parties in hollywood don't adhere to strict black and white only themes.
4) hand calligraphy seems more formal to me, but I don't think it's going to scream 'casual' if you do the laser printing version. I think the paper and font will have an impact on the effect as well.

1. no you do not have to have a cake topper--we didn't. it was fresh flowers on thecake for us

2. if you can afford the shuttle service--its a nice thing. but if you can't -- you can always try and work something out with friends & relatives to pick up guests for you and help out

3. i didn't have black tie--so i can't answe this one. lol

4. if you have splurged on the invites, are having black tie, and want to really make a statement with the invite--i would spend the money on hand calligraphy. you relaly can tell the difference

1. No you don't have to - the flowers make a really nice topper...

2. You don't HAVE to get a shuttle - some hotels and RH have some sort of contract for that kind of thing - ask your RH if they do... I know the Wingate Inn in Garden City does with a couple of places - if you book a certain number of rooms you get a round trip shuttle bus for free.

3. You can mix up the colors - just as long as the rest of the decor is formal... but typical black-tie is white/cream

4. It depends on if you are doing the laser printing yourself... I personally think hand calligraphy is beautiful - but with the technology these days, if you have someone do it for you (if you don't feel confident to do it yourself), it's just as pretty.
