A very good friend of mine as well as my DH are tall and thin. I could never understand how being called 'skinny' would hurt or be an insult until I met them. To me, being told I look skinny is the ultimate compliment.
It was so completely enlightening to hear their side!
Growing up, I was teased endlessly about my boobs...I was an early developer. It's tough wearing a bra in elementary school

Yeah I used to be real skinny and now the laugh is on them. I think people do think when they say you are so skinny blah blah that it doesn't hurt.
For example my niece dad missed my wedding and my mom was showing him the pictures. He has not seen me in a while and since I have gained 20 pounds He goes 'oh my god I can't believe this is Neva she used to be a string'
I really think some how people think I would hear that and say 'thanks, i have always aimed for that look'

Re: Offensive Comments
you are so right beachbride. Does your FH know she does this? If he doesn't let him know it hurts you. She seems jealous that she is overweight. So many people who comment to me are overweight in some shape or form and you know what? They need to shape up before they talk to me! As for boobs I was blessed with larger ones but even if I wasn't, I am me, God made me the way I am, and for others to comment, they are rude, jealous and or/classless people.

Re: Offensive Comments
The weight comment (whether you are too fat or too thin) is definitely hypocritical. Overweight women do not like people commenting on their fatness (in fact it is quite offensive) SO why is it OK to say to someone 'wow you are too thin'?????

Back-handed compliments. My favorite. I used to be very skinny when I was a little younger. People used to ask friends/family members if I had an eating disorder becuase I ate like a pig and looked like a twig. When I started to gain weight people started saying to my face 'You look so much better. Healthier. Before you looked so unhealthy and anorexic.' Gee, thanks.
I also hate when people ask me if my greenish/blue eyes or my curls are 'real.' Clear contacts, no perm.
I never really gave much thought as to why it bothers me, but I guess the bottom line is that it disturbs me that when (lets be honest here) a woman sees something about another woman that she finds beautiful (ie.. eye color or hair), and rather than just commenting on how beautiful you are or one of your features is, she implies that it must be unnatural, purchased, enhanced, etc.

OMG! I can relate to this topic. A few years ago I went through the adult acne phase and went on accutane. But it takes time to work. Well everyone at my company was like... 'What happend to your face?' Like I did not know I was breaking out.... 'If you use aloe it will cure that'. 'You had beautiful skin what happend???'. And these were grown women. I tried to keep a stiff upper lip but when I went home I was a hermitt.

Re: Offensive Comments
And we wonder why we live in a society that there is so much pressure on women to be thin, beautiful...comments like these, do this to us! Ok, getting off my soapbox...

Re: Offensive Comments
Theresa, Why would you be upset over the 'tip over' comment? I used to get it all the time and never thought of it as a negative comment. The fact is, my boobs are large. There's no hiding it.
As for the Porno remark, I can't say I've ever gotten that, but I was mistaken for a Scores girl and I took that as a compliment.
It's funny, as much as I get annoyed for people pointing out my height everyday (or inquiring/commenting about other physical charactistics), all I come back to is it could be worse. I think about the people who are disfigured, etc. and have to go through that crap. Compared to them...I have it real easy with nothing to complain about.
