NOt sure about the weekly, but with the monthly they punch M or F on the first day of the month, so they know who should be using it.

WHAT?!?!?! That's crazy! I know if you buy through Mail & Ride they print your name on it, but you bought it at a machine so there's no way they can know. Did they force him to buy a ticket???

ETA: Just saw they post up top about the punching of F or M. Craziness.

When did they start doing this? I haven't worked in the city in years but when I did a monthly was a monthly -- unlimited and they had no way of knowing who it belonged to. that is insane.

As far as I know, they've always done it. I just moved back to LI after living in the city for many years, but I commuted like 15 years ago before I moved in and they were doing it then too.
