I have to agree with T about how certain people continue to pop up in her posts knowing that they aren't going to like what she has to say, JUST to start with her. It's very noticeable.

Devil's advocate here, maybe this was a little harsh and a touchy subject....

Theresa's posts evoke strong reactions from some of the ladies here. But I don't see how name calling is at all appropriate. I hate to see anyone come under fire to the point they feel the need to remove a post.

This was certainly a touchy subject, but it isn't like flowers and engagement rings are all that exists in our lives.

I know it's a dead issue but....

Like you said this is a public board, so if you post a question, you're going to get responses--good and bad. If you want to address certain people (the people who know you the best and the people who are going to be sympathetic to an issue in your life that they are familiar with) then email/forum mail them, or start a post with their names in the title.

It's obvious that you only wanted responses to your question that were going to agree with you and side with you. So, if you're going to post on a public board, you're not going to only get people telling you that you're NOT mean.

I make it a habit not to respond to anything 'dramatic' because I personally feel that you only post drama-causing posts to get attention... But I think the bickering is really sophomoric. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion- saying negative things to R&T isn't going to make you feel good about your self or damage her in anyway- so what do you get out of it?

This is the stupidest post I've seen in a while- everyone should just get back to planning.

I'm not sure how to really phrase what I want to say because I'm non-confrontational. But...
I understand where Theresa is coming from on this one. I really don't want to use the word 'hate' but it pretty much is the only word I can use to describe my own father. He has been nothing but a thorn in my side all my life-he's mean, and a raging alcoholic amongst other things.
Most of us don't know the full story on what's going on here, and if Theresa was looking for some advice, solidarity, etc. on a difficult situation and she felt there were people on this board who might be able to be sympathetic, then we need to respect that. I understand that we're all entitled to our opinions and it's a public board but maybe we need to step back and really think about what we say to each other.
Words do hurt sometimes.
Just wanted to say that I'm not trying to stir up anymore bad feelings.
