I would say yes. But there's sometimes a line drawn between ushers and groomsmen, which I've never understood - don't they do the same thing? Our groomsmen sat people. Are there other groomsmen?

I guess I just find it hard to distinguish him from the groomsmen. Would he be in a tux too? Would the groomsmen also be seating people?
the runner is generally done by the limo driver (if you're having one) though I guess an usher could do that.

Re: Are Ushers apart of the bridal party
At my cousins wedding she had 6 Groomsmen and 2 ushers. The ushers weren't a part of the 'official' bridal party.
She wanted to have her brothers involved so she asked them to be ushers. They helped with seating the guests. They wore tuxedos. They went with us in the limos and went for the pictures, although they were not in pictures that had the bridal party as a whole. They had their seperate pictures with the bride and groom.

Re: Are Ushers apart of the bridal party
ok, question pertaining to the bridal party, is it totally necessary to have an even number of bride's maids and ushers? I have a thing for symmetry but not that many female friends and relatives.

Re: Are Ushers apart of the bridal party
I am having 7 GM and 1 Usher. He is definitely part of the BP. My usher will be seating the Mothers and Grandmothers, the GMs will have a BM partner.
As for whether or not it has to be even, the answer is NO. Nowadays you do what makes you happy

Re: Are Ushers apart of the bridal party
I have 7 GM and 2 ushers. My ushers are two 12 year old cousins that we will have seating moms and grandmas, they won't have partners though.
You can anything though I have 8 BM's and 7 GM, just the way it worked out. I don't really think any sort of rules matter anymore.
