Re: Is 2 1/2 too young for Flower Girl???
I honestly think that is too young. IMO,The problem with having a FG that young is she probably won't want to walk down the isle by herself. She may be overwhelmed and start crying, and wanting her mother to walk down with her, or she may not want to walk at all, especially once she sees all the guests.

Re: Is 2 1/2 too young for Flower Girl???
our flower girl wasn't even 2 yet (she was 1.5). She walked down the aisle holding her brother's hand (he was the RB at 4.5). She didn't throw petals, but she looked adorable!
I had them walk before the first of the bridal party, so that their mother (my SIL, a BM) would be right behind them.
I say go for it, but be prepared that she might not want to go down the aisle...will she be alone?
Our FG will be 22 months - but both her parents are in the BP - so she'll walk with them. (MYFSIL and her husband)

Re: Is 2 1/2 too young for Flower Girl???
i have mixed feelings on this
my friend had a 1 1/2 yr. old walk in w/her sis (9) and RB (3) and it worked perfectly another wedding i attended had a 2 1/2 yr. old and she made it down just fine smiling at everyone!! it was so cute!
mine will be 4 and 3/1/2 and i am still nervous---but i think it depends on the kid.....i say it is not too young--just have them practice! that is what i am doing!

practice is good - my SIL had her kids practicing walking while holding hands for a while.
And have realistic expectations - if the kids get stage fright and don't want to walk down, its not the end of the world. I was prepared for it not to happen, but it went off very well. In fact, her brother was more nervous than she was. He kept looking back at his mom who was encouraging him to keep walking. The FG was willing to go whereever he took her.

I do think if you decide to do it, practice would help a lot, at least get her used to walking down, and make her feel like a BIG girl for doing so

My daughter is my flower girl. She will be 23 months. If she cant make it down on her own she can walk with my MOH her God mother.

I think it's okay. My FG (our neice) will be almost 2 and while I want her to walk down the aisle, if she doesn't want to that's okay with me. I am also having my 8 year old twin cousins be FG's. Also I'll put the little FG right after her mother who's the MOH, or she can walk down the aisle with her if she wants. I think it's a great idea but just be prepared to play it by ear. The pictures will be great!

Hell, our best man will be 22 months!! (He's our son) I have been worrying that he won't cooperate. So we are taking him to church so that he learns that when we are in God's house we have to behave. He's actually VERY good!

Our FG will be 22 months old by our wedding. Will she cooperate?? Not really sure, so I'm not stressing about it. If she feels like walking that day, fine - if not - that's fine too!!!! I do get weekly updates from my cousin on her 'practice' walks - so far, so good!!!

Ours had just turned three. She was perfect. She walked with her 5 year old cousin. He was our ring bearer.

One of my friends FG was 2 1/2 at her wedding. She walked up the aisle with her brother carring a single flower. There was another older flower girl that dropped petals. It was the cutest thing.

My flower girl will be 23 months at my wedding, I think it is fine, but don't be upset, if she doesn't walk, kids are funny sometimes, the one you think will walk don't and then the shy ones will, you just can't count on it. I figure even if she doesn't walk she will still be in the pictures.

Well, I was debating the same problem. My flower girl will only be 2 1/2 also. But my plan is to walk her down the isle with her brother (the ring bearer).
She doesn't have to throw petals if you think that is going to be a problem, just give her a basket of flowers to hold.
