i dont know any divorce lawyers, but tell her to apply for Child Health Plus as soon as possible. It takes a while to take effect, but its affordable health insurance, if not free.

i know in NY that children are covered under nystate health insurance so the baby will not be without insurance.

I feel really bad becuase of the whole situation.. Its soo uncomfortable to be planning a wedding and dealing with family issues.. Its hard... Something similar is going on with someone I truly love and adore... But I can only offer my support and I know that is not enough to help with the situation and its breaking my heart...
Everything will be Ok.. A divorce is not the end of the world.. She should get strength to make it without the someone.. Her son alone should give her energy to continue making greater moves..

Yes firstly tell her to print the paper work from the internet for child health plus. Next she needs to go to family court and file for custody and child support. (She doesn't need a lawyer to do that) only if she wants one or if she feels things aren't going her way. Also you can FM me for lawyer information.

where does your sister live? If its in one of the 5 boros she can apply her baby for ny city health insurance.. she will def get it because she doesnt work, her income is lower than 25g a year and she has a baby... plus, for a while she can get food stamps and welfare.. i dont think that applies to LI though.. only the boros so you may want to check that out.
