The diamond keeps coming loose. We just sent it back to blue nile for them to fix the setting... I just worry about losing something worth that much money

I think mine was appraised for around the price he paid.. maybe a little more.

Now im confused why mine wasn't appraised for much more

We had our appraised by someone in the diamond district. It was appraised for several thousand more than what we spent. I think that's normal though.

10er crashing.....my ring also appraised for like 4k more than what FH paid for it. I am not sure if its because he bought the diamond and the setting separately so it is worth more together?!..

They always appraise rings for more than they cost so you pay more for your insurance.

If you're concerned about the diamond becoming loose, would you consider changing the setting or bringing it elsewhere for repair? I've had jewelry repairs done in the past at Gennaro jewelers in Bellmore. They are very reputable and your diamond NEVER leaves your sight during the entire process.

When fh got my ring appraised by the Jewelry Judge they said to beware of really high appraisals because it jacks up your insurance on the ring. They said they could have appraised it for much more (like thousands as you girls said) but since insurance companies usually replace for the exact same diamond and not the appraisal price, it's not worth paying much more for insurance just so you can say your ring appraised for much more. Does this make sense?
