goo dluck - we will be converting fh's paretns house to a 2 family to live in after the wedding - fh doesn't want his dad to be alone now b/c of his mom's passing .......it will hard but its the right thing to do...

PLEASE be prepared for many changes in your lifestyle. You are going to have to really be prepared for a)living with your FH and b)living with his parents.

I am doing the same thing after we get married. I practically live there already. I spend more time there than I do at my own house!
We will have our own kitchen, bathroom, living room area and the bedroom. This is the basement so we will be separated from them thank goodness!!! The only thing we will have to share is the washer/dryer. But we are going to create a schedule of when we can do our laundry as to not inconvenience FH’s mom.
We think this is the best solution for us right now. We prefer to save money faster for a new house by not having to pay rent. Which I really think is a waste of money.

we lived with my FIL for three weeks in february while we waited for our house closing (we moved to NJ & needed a temporary place to live). it was very nice of them to let us stay there & the accomodations were very nice. however, i was counting down the days til the closing!! i couldn't take it for much longer! there was absolutely no privacy whatsoever & our living habits were very different.

My FI currently lives in his own apt. in father's house with bed, bath, separate entrance, kitchen, and living room. I practically live there now, as you do. I do not think it is a bad situation, as long as you get along with your FILs, and they are easy to talk to. It is just something that you need to adjust to. Think about it, whether you are living with your FILs or renting an apartment elsewhere, you have to live by someone else's rules, and make adjustments in lifestyle. If you are given your privacy, it will be easier to adjust. Besides, not having to pay rent is one big stressor out of your life, and you can save for a house!
