Re: Really need help with this---Need all the opinions I can get!
Will he get the full purchase price back if you guys decide to return it? If you can get the full amount back, that seems like the best option.

Yes we'll get back everything, including the insurance I bought through them for a few hundred $$..

If he can get the full price back, return it. It's not worth the head ache. Go to a private jeweler and really sit down and study the ring before purchasing. Clarity is very important to me, I'd rather have a smaller, beautiful diamond than a big old rock with flaws in it.

Send that Sh$% back!!!!
This is a piece of jewelery that you will have for the rest of your life and might possibly pass down to future generations.
If it will really bother you that much being w/o a ring for a month, but a cheap cz to put in it's place.
Your ring should be perfect! anything less than perfect is unacceptable.

Then I'd return it for sure. Your FH already wants to go to a jeweler and get you the right ring. Go shopping together for something that you'll like even better and you'd be happy to wear the rest of your life.

If you are getting all your money back return it.
FH got my ring at Tri-County Jewelery Department. They have a lot and you might find a ring that is identical or one you like better. Plus they have never given me a problem when I go there if something is wrong...and they have never charged me to clean or re-coat the white gold.
FH went to Milano Jewelers.

I would return it and go elsewhere. I know a lot of girls have used Zales but I know from experience with my sister that they dont accomodate their customers very well. I hope I don't offend anyone,...I'm only speaking from one experience. I just have a feelign that it will be a continuous headache.
I do see the other side....this is ur ring....the ring that you were proposed to with....if they can order another....that would be ideal. I wish there were more time for you to have the ring appraised from another jeweler....they would let you know if you were basically robbed....they can let u know what that diamond is really worth and if you got what you paid for....

If it was me and I got the full refund I would return it
Get something both you and FH love..then have him propse again (I know it's not the same) but at least you can have memories of your new ring

If FH could get his money back then return it and start fresh. Maybe go to a jeweler that will be honest and provide you wil a certified diamond

RETURN IT AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK. Go elsewhere. Not acceptable. You want to be proud of your ring and smile everytime you look at it - not get stressed and frustrated. Your fiance has to feel proud he bought you the best ring he could afford and this is not your situation! The best part about it is you can CHANGE it and get your money back. Do not buy a diamond without a gia report. FH has had bad experience with a zales (male) diamond ring before too.
I know it's sentimental but no way should your jeweler profit from your attachment (not love) of the ring.
It's your choice but I'd definitely return!

I would 100% return it and buy one from a real jeweler and never look back.

return the ring... you will never be happy and you will probably look back and regret it. So return it because if it's this bad now wait till a few months or years from now. I'm sure you will find a ring you love just as much.

I personally would return the ring and than take the money to a different place. If they are giving you this many problems ALREADY, I wouldn't even deal. I know it stinks to be with out a ring for a bit, but... in the long run it will be better for you JMO!

ITA
you will have the ring forever...tons of people will be staring at it...you will be staring at it...you should have something beautiful..
just two words of advice...
pick the center stone first...do not pick a ring out of the case- you can not fully assess a diamond in a setting...the flaws can easily be hidden by prongs always start by purchasing the center stone!! then pick a setting
and second is make sure you get a GIA certifcation for your ring ONLY- IMO they are the only ones you can trust
nowww go out with your man and pick out something beautiful that you deserve!

Re: Really need help with this---Need all the opinions I can get!
i think it's in your best bet to just return the ring. i actually have a lot of zales product, including a 1ct ring that i received as a 5 year anniversary gift and everything has been great quality (at least for what was paid for it) and they have always serviced everything as promised.
but when shopping for an engagement ring, unless you purchase from their celebration collection, the other stones are usually flawed and marked up in price.
if you can get a full refund, take that money and shop around the diamond district for a loose stone and then just get it set. when my FH was shopping for my stone, the dealer he worked with advised him that places like zales and those chain stores mark the stone price up by 60%... so if that's the truth, then you can get a great quality ring, even a little bigger!

I would definetely return the ring and go buy it elsewhere. I would not trust that the replacement diamond would be better quality. We have enough to do planning the wedding, the ring should not add to our stress.

Honestly, I think the setting isnt the most important part, b/c over the years you may want to change the setting. but the stone is soooo sooo important. If you're unhappy I would return it and start over. You want to start your engagement off on a happy note, not stress over zales being crappy!
Good luck :)

Re: Really need help with this---Need all the opinions I can get!
We had the SAME PROBLEM. i got exactly the ring i wanted from zales and the diamond card said it had good clarity and color, i cant remember what exactly. when my FH showed my father the ring my dad brought him striaght to the family jeweler. he showed FH a diamond of the same C's and it was STUNNING next to the one zales claimed it was. only bad side of the experience was that my dad didnt like that i knew what my ring was so they got me a different one so id be surprised, the jeweler made a similar ring to the tacori one that i ripped out of a magazine over a year before we got engaged that i didnt know my FH saved. so although i didnt like the ring as much it was way cuter that way!
