I have been paying most of my vendors a little at a time. Some of them get the balances after the wedding (ex. photographer and videographer). The DJ wants the balance the day of the wedding but I am going to pay him before hand so that I do not have to worry about paying him the day of the wedding.

Definitely little by little. It was the only way we'd pay them off.

Most of our vendors gave us a schedule of when payments were due. The only thing we paid a little in advance was the final catering hall payment (we didnt want to worry about having all that cash nor burden anyone else with it.) Everyone else was according to schedule.

We put whatever down we had to put and are paying the rest when it is due, in cash. Don't want to pay along the way bc the money earns interest for me sitting in my bank account! And not that anyone expects it, but what if something happens and you have to cancel or postpone? All that money is gone.
