There is a shop in Bellmore on Merrick Road called Crystal Water. The owner is LuLu (I think) and she will do alterations on wedding gowns. I have seen pics of her work and she is really very good. The shop makes custom bathing suits but she does this on the side.

Jenny2Penny, this is probably too far for you. I am using Filomena in Coram, on Rte 112 just north of where 112 crosses Rte 25. I've used her for any alteration I've ever needed and have always been pleased. Her number is 631 732 7880.

Filomena is very good. Her shop has been there for ages, and it looks a bit rundown, but she does a great job. Not far from Middle Island either (10 minutes from Kmart area) - that's where I lived after college but before FH and I bought our house.

Yep, $60.00 for a BM, and I am not sure how much for the bride. I am getting my BM gowns from BRIDESAVE.COM and having her measure all of the girls and do their alterations.

jenny2penny, that's so funny! that's where i lived! tee hee hee.

btw, i never answered your other questions, but i don't really have answers. i believe she presses, though i have to check with her. filomena altered my dress when i was a bm for a friend, and i think she pressed it.

not sure about cost but i know she has always had reasonable prices. she won't charge you more just because you are a bride. you know how lots of vendors do that because they know you will pay, right? she won't do that.

i have to schedule a fitting with her soon, so i can let you know more about price when i know more.
