Re: XP: palladium vs. platinum
Here's what I found so far!!!
Palladium is costly, but not as expensive as platinum. It is much lighter in specific gravity so it will feel much more like a 14kt white gold ring than a platinum one. Because it is way lighter, you'll pay for less metal weight. It shouldl be quite a bit less than platinum, if you can find one. Likely as not, the few people that offer such rings for sale will get some sort of premium price because of the relative 'rarity' of their product..... If you want it, that's the price!
The downside it that palladium tends to grey out more than platinum. It doesn't really oxidize or tarnish, but it generally will appear less shiny than platinum. It certainly can be repolished readily. For a wedding ring, it may prove perfectly satisfactory. Come to think of it, my mother's simple wedding ring was palladium because she was married right at the end of WWII and there had been no platinum available for jewelry in that period of the 1940's. Her ring worked fine for her. David S. Atlas

My friend works for the knot and said that paladium is great she said it's very popular right now and with the price of gold and platinum sky rocketing peoiple are turning to paladium which really looks like platinum! I didn't read the other post but i would give it a look!

Thanks! This is similar to what I've read online too. I am thinking of going with it because I can get a few diamonds on the sides if I go with pall, but it's not financially possible with plat. (difference is $800)

Thanks Dom. I didn't think water had much to do with the turning of white gold ... something to look into!
