So FSIL picks up her dress from her seamstress TODAY at 3 p.m.. She doesn't try it on there because the seamstress has an urgent appointment to go to an will be unavailable the rest of the evening.

FSIL gets the dress home AND IT DOESN'T FIT! She cut too much off the top, it's WAY to tight. And she cut too much off the length. Dress is supposed to sit on floor however now you can totally see her feet. And she can't get in touch with the seamstress, of course!

HELP!!!! WEDDING IS ON FRIDAY!

The seamstress gave her all the material that was cut. I have two plans as of now. Take it to another seamstress tomorrow, see if the can let the top out and make a false side if need to be.

Or, see if David's Bridal (where we got the dress) has one she can buy off the rack. But she will still need a seamstress to fit it to her.

So....anyone have a RELIABLE seamstress recommendation in Queens that may be able to make emergency repairs? Or can you can up with an alternative plan?????

Don't EVEN get me started on how this freakin happened!!!!!!!!!

You can always call all the DBs in the 5 boroughs, Nassau, and Suffolk (I know its alot, maybe see if someone can help), and ask them to see if they have the dress in her size to be bought off the rack?

I don't know any seamstresses in queens...but I'm sure most would do it right away if you offered them the right amount of money- money always talks, and at this point, its a necessary expense.

I hope it all works out for you

Why don't you try a local dry cleaner or a bridal shop? I live in Flushing and there are tons of shops that can proab can fix it for ASAP

WOW. Is all I have to say.

Here's the info for a seamstress in Valley Stream/Franklin Square. Not quite Queens, but close.

David Dry Cleaners
1050 Franklin Avenue, Valley Stream, NY 11580

(516) 568-9522

This woman has worked wonders for me in the past. For my prom dress we bought a piece of fabric, had her remove the entire bottom part of the dress and redo it with the new fabric. It came out amazing. She might be able to help you out.

If you call David's Bridal with the style # they can search their database to see which store closest to you has the size and color you need.

Thanks, everyone!!!! I'm making a list and as soon as David's Bridal opens I'm going to see if I can get the dress of the rack and then start calling these places.

Keep them coming!!!!

Try NY cleaners...call and ask to speak to the manager because otherwise they just have kids there as the drycleaning cashiers. He's a very nice man, maybe he could help you. I know they open very very early!

Re: XPOST: EMERGENCY!!!!! HELP needed NOW!

For e-party when my dress came in, the top part i was busting out of and my party was that week. I brought it to Sarina on Austin street and she did it in 2-3 days. She took some length off the train of my dress and used the lace to add to top part of the dress to cover me up and also she made it from spaghetti straps to halter top so it can fit me a bit better on top. So i would try her since i know for a fact she can get it done that quick.

ETA: oh wait wedding is tomorrow, i just saw this on top of page and just realized, sorry nevermind. Hope you fixed the problem and have an amazing wedding tomorrow
