xPost from 2011: Invitation Wording

So I know I have a while before I do my invites, but I had a question about wording.

My parents gave FH and I a substantial gift towards our wedding (they're paying for about 20% of it). So far, FH's parents haven't given us anything other than $100 at our engagement party (and they paid for 1/2 the party).

Do I include them in the language of the invite? I don't want to make anyone upset, but I also want my parents to get the recognition they deserve.

Thoughts?

hopefully they'll contribute more closer to (if they can afford it of course)

but as of right now, I would def list your parents. but not his

My parents are paying for the entire wedding and they insisted both parents names are on the invites since each family is just as happy as the other. Do your parents have a preference?

Not really sure how my parents feel about it yet. But when we did E-Party invites and we weren't sure if they were going to contribute, my parents wanted their names on the invite regardless. I'd imagine they'd feel this way with the invites too, but you never know! Money changes people unfortunately!

Are you going to word it traditionally?

'Like Mr. and Mrs. Smith invite you to join them at the wedding of their daughter Jane Marie to John James son of Mr. and Mrs. Jones....?'

If not, maybe something like, 'Together with their families, Jand Marie and John James invite you...'

Good point - I'll probably go traditional.

That makes it easiest...that way both parents' names are on there, but it sounds more like YOUR parents are hosting...
