Robberies in Brooklyn, NY

There has been an outbreak of robberies in the Dyker Heights/Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, NY. They have been taking place during the day while the home owners have been home. Please keep your windows & doors closed and locked at all times.

FM if you would like more details as to where they have been taking place.

Thanks for the warning. I live in Bensonhurst on 85th Street & 18 Avenue and heard about the robbery in Bay Ridge where they tied up two children. It is very scary and I'm glad I have a 100 lb. German Shepard that comes to door with me whenever I answer the bell. The bad guys have to be very stupid to try and break in with her around.
Everyone please STAY SAFE!!!

They actually hit the house next to FH's aunt and uncle. Very scary. He went out the next day and upped the alarm system.

It's a very well-to-do area and in hard economic times, it's sad to say but it's not uncommon.

I'm scared b/c we'll be leaving from here for the wedding so robbers will know we won't be home. I think we are going to have 'house sitters'

BklynBride and all brides - do NOT decorate your house the day of your wedding. When my older son got married my DIL's mother decorated their house beautifully (they live on 71 Street right off of 14th Avenue). The wedding was in Our Lady of Quadalupe church and when they got back the house had been broken into and a lot of valuable things were stolen including jewelry, money, etc. From that day on I try to warn brides and their moms not to decorate. I know we all like to make our homes look pretty for a wedding (even me with boys), but it is an open invitation to thieves. So please, please all of you DO NOT DECORATE!!!!
