My bm just told me today that they ordered her a size that was 8 sizes larger than her street size (normally 14, ordered her a 22)- my sister is normally a 2 and they ordered her a 4, my fsil is normally a 10 and they got her a 12
I think the bridal shop is ripping off my friend, since its a plus size, she had to pay more

i think bridesmaids dresses run bigger in general. apparenlty back in the day, people used to be smaller so the sizes were different, and the wedding industry still goes by the 'old' sizes. i'm a 'street size' 6 in pants, but i just had a bridesmaids dress i had to order in a size 12!! its just the sizing is different... nothing like making people feel awful, huh?!

They run bigger in general as the PP said. All my girls ordered 1 to 2 sizes bigger then their normal sizes.
You also have to remember, they are going by the largest of the 3 measurements taken because its easier to take in then it is to let out.
Im a 0 and my dress was a 2 (should have been a 4) but they ordered a 2 so its totally normal for both sides of the spectrum.

My girls wore Bill Levkoff and I think they ordered a size up AT THE MOST, and most of them wore their street size. All of the dresses fit with minimal alterations...it sounds like your place is trying to make $$...

Dont panic. Like the other girls said first of all the sizes are cut so differently. Im usually a 4 but i was ordered an 8 in a bill levkoff dress and it was fine! Also, the person measuring is required to go with the largest measurement. So if the bm has larger hips than everywhere else, the person measurng has to go with that measurement. It is easier to take in than let out. (and it is less costly)

They tried something like that with me too, so we had the girls try on other Levkoff dresses in different sizes to better help determine what size they should get, more often than not they only needed one size up from their street size
