XPOST: Help me help my cousin!!

My poor cousin has 2 beautiful little daughters and he promised them a puppy this weekend. He went to North SHore after having submit the paperwork and THEN having the girls pick out a puppy, they told him they couldn't verufy one ofhis references and that he can't reapply for 30 days. He's pissed cause now he has 2 crying children and there's no reason they couldn't verify the reference.

Anyway, he also checked BideA Wee and Brookhaven and for whatever reason those didn't work out.

Anyone know anywhere else he could go to get a puppy today?? THey have a great house, stable home, he's a Suffolk cop, his wife stays home... I don't really know why he's having trouble finding a puppy.

It is a bit of a drive but the Humane Society in New Rochelle is AWESOME!!! They do not ask for references but they require you to fill out some paper work. Additionally they provide 4 weeks (1x/week) of FREE dog training classes. They even gave us the crate for our dog when we adopted him.
