I'm so upset. I thought that when you go through a travel agent you get better deals. Either I was wrong or my travel agent isn't so good. The problem is he's a friend of the family so I don't really have much of a choice. So tell me those of you who booked your honeymoons. Was it the same price going through a travel agent as it was just looking online by your self???
Thanks!

it was the same for us, but we got 'extras' by using liberty travel. plus we could add on the flight & insurance directly. and we got a honeymoon registry

Travel agents frustrate the hell out of me! If you find a better deal usually they will match it. The best reason for the travel agent is what Lauren mentioned, you can potentially do a honeymoon registry if you're interested in that and if they offer it. Sometimes they have extra perks, but beware sometimes they don't. And in my case, they offer cancel for any reason insurance, which is what I needed after almost getting burned with my last trip.
My whole trip I could've booked myself. The flight was cheaper directly through the airline so my travel agent booked the airline's online rate directly through them. I found a AAA rate through one hotel so the travel agent booked directly through the hotel. Another hotel we called directly and booked ourselves because he couldn't match it. I found the rental cars at a cheaper rate through Dollar, he was going to go through Hertz. I really could've done the whole thing myself. But, it doesn't cost anything for him to book it so I completed it through him since I already started with him and he did put in time finding rates, although they weren't better than the ones I found.
Sorry so long, it's a little of a rant!

I find that airfare can always be found cheaper on your own. But there are some perks to booking through a travel agent as the girls above have pointed out.

That's a tough situation. We went to 3 islands in Hawaii and used a travel agent because of the inter island travel. It's far and I wasn't sure how to go about it. But I think you should let them know that you saw it for a different price, if it is significant enough to not cause a big stir with the fam. Good Luck!
