So we totally dont get along with FSIL, and Fh moved from Brooklyn to LI a year ago. Thats the bakground
A few months ago Fh got a call from his dad saying that a year earlier (which was before Fh even lived here) someone at this address had asked for a credit report on FSIL. Yes, I know that makes no sense. So my first thought was 'She's up to something' and I think I was right. Shortly after that we started getting mail for his sister here. Credit card offers and even collecetions notices from credit card companies. We had never gotten ail for his sister before. He lives in LI, she lives upstate, and they don't even have the same last name. So i think she made up the whole thing about teh credit report to cover for the fact that we'd be getting her mail here. Also, ordinarily Fh doens't pick up his mail until late at night, and I'm rarely here during the day but when I am I get the mail right after it comes. And coincicdentally I'm the one wh usualy finds these letters for FSIL, so it may be posisble she has someoen in the area coming to get the mail. I don't know if this is really true, but it's a thought. We keep getting these letters. What could FSIL possibly be up to? How can i stop it and can she get in trouble? Any ideas?
I was thinking maybe she's trying to establihs residency because her Dh wants to be a state trooper or something? I'm not sure but its fishy and I want it to stop!

WQe have her address somewhere, but that s not what I'm concerned about. I think somethign fishy is going on. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and what I can do about it?

The first thing is to send the mail back to the post office 'addressee unknown.'
That should stop the mail from coming here. She could be running from creditors and needs another address so she doesn't get harassed. I wouldn't be surprised if she canceled all of her bank accounts as well.

It's definitely a debt thing. I ummm was accidentally holding it up to the light and the bill collectors want quite a bit of $$ from her
ETA: Fh thinks that the creditors took it upon themselves to send it to him, because they're siblings..but that makes no sense..I've never heard of that before. He says maybe they're just trying to find her any way they can...I think we should just call them and give them her cell # mwahahahahah
They don't even have the same last name, and they live in totally different areas I can't see them looking him up for this

This is odd!
The only thing I could think of, other than her trying to establish residency would be that she has put your FH dwn in credit or loan applications as a 'referral' in the past and they're sending letters to his house...but now that I think about it, that would only make sense should the letters be addressed to him. The fact that they're addressed to her means that she wants to 'prove' that she lives there.

I think this should be the first step you take, or open the letters, and call back the company that sent them and give them her real address, and telephone number.

Why not call her and ask her what's going on? If she won't tell you, ask her to stop having mail sent to your address, and if she doesn't, you will send it back to the post office.

I'm going to have Fh call them and give them ALL her info including cell #. She can't use us to hide from creditors, and then have him call her and see what kind of lie she tells.

i would pull FH's credit report and make sure she has not opened anything in his name using his SS# - if you are concerned this may happen, alert the credit agencies. i would also inform the local post office that there is no person by that name who lives at FH's address.

Re: Xpost - odd situation
From time to time I get mail from collection agencies at my house with my ex boyfriends name on it, but with my address...I opened one and called them and told them what the deal was... I am 99% positive that the reason I am getting this stuff is because we had a credit card together almost nine years ago, which has been closed, but when the collection agency couldnt find him at any of his addresses theydid some research and found my address even though which he never lived at or used on paperwork.
Ask FI if he ever signed anything for her, and I agree, run a credit report on him and see if anything on there seems fishy.

Re: Xpost - odd situation
We checked all 3 credit reports in June and the only weird thing was a credit card where his dad had made him and his sister authorized users literally 15 years ago. But we ha that removed..and why the BS about someone having pulled her credit report? Maybe what happened was when they looked for her they found him and then added her address to her report and she thinks that means someone is trying to use her name. I know when I pull my report it has every address Fh has ever lived at as a secondary address for me because we have accounts together. Ok, this is making sense now...but I'm still worried about shady dealings from her

Re: Xpost - odd situation
I have an idea. What about putting a forwarding address order in with the post office so all her mail gets redirected to her,
OR
Do what I do - I ALWAYS get mail for 3 different people who no longer live here. I write return to sender, Person doesnt live here. They may take your address off their mailing list
