Xpost Royalton Vs. Land's End??!! Vs. CLM!!!??????

Original post by LoveyDovey

Ok Girls, it's down to the wire...and I'm having a hard time committing to a RH...

I made an appt to meet with the Royalton tomorrow to haggle and set a date!!!

BUTTTTTTT

I'm having doubts now, it's like 'omg, im going to be locked in, what if i made the wrong choice??!!'

I absolutely loved the Royalton, saw it twice already- but it's alot more than what we planned on spending and originally we wanted something on the water...

so it brings me back to Land's End- also alot more than what we wanted to spend but I love it there also and FH was really set on this place when we first got engaged

the only reason why I don't like Land's End is that I'm worried about bad weather, I feel like if it rains then the whole ambiance of Land's End is ruined

I don't know what to do!!! is it normal to have fear of committing to an RH??

Thennnn I thought about just saying screw it and having it at CLM- it's alot more affordable, on the water & pretty- and it will save us alot of money! Royalton and Land's End are DOUBLE the price of CLM.

sorry for the long rant...Thoughts? Suggestions?

Should I just go with my gut and book the Royalton like planned?

If I had seen CLM before I booked Land's End I might have changed my mind because the cost is SO much less but it's still very nice and on the water. I would seriously consider it... down the road you will appreciate having the extra money and not killing yourselves to plan a wedding.

In regards to having a wedding with a waterfront view, that is the vision I have! My top choices are Venetian Yacht Club and CLM. VYC is a bit more costly, but it is absolutely beautiful!

I was afraid of committing to a RH too but I had to go with my gut.... I think that if you go with CLM you will save some money ANd still have a beautiful wedding! They have everything you want... and like you said, if it rains then Land's End won't be everything you wanted... and you never know if it is going to rain... at least with CLM you won't have to worry about that at all!

well i can see why you would maybe want to go to CLM and save....but if you arent in love with it I dont think its the best choice. I'd hate to see you settle on a place but also over spending is def not the way to go!

i don't know if we'd be 'settling'

if we didn't see the royalton, i don't think i would have felt like i was 'settling'
it was only after seeing the royalton, that i kind of feel this way

CLM is def beautiful and I'm pretty confident that we'd have a beautiful wedding there...the food at the tasting was delishhhh and i haven't really heard a bad thing about it

its like hmmm CLM & a beautiful home

orrr Royalton & maybe no home or a home alot later than planned?

ugghhh, it's just one day, y is this so difficult!

I just read this and honestly I think that you have made this decision already!!! If for you it's CLM and a beautiful home then you HAVE to do it. I am sorry I just can't justify spending more than you have to, especially if you are going to buy a home!!!!!

im sorry I didnt mean anything by the settling comment i made...just seemed (maybe i read it wrong) that you were heart set on a place that was more than u wanted to spend. CLM is also a nice place and I agree you will have a beautiful wedding there as well. Also seeing you want to buy a home soon you may want to go w/ CLM. I did something similar instead of a summer or fall wedding I did winter this way we could get a home. In the end I was happy w my choice....im sure you will be too!! GL!!!

I think if it's between getting a house or not getting a house you really should do CLM!!!!!!!!

A wedding is just one day. Don't go crazy spending money that you could use for your future!

CLM is beautiful. I'm a bit biased. but I was also decieded between Land's End and CLM, and my parents are paying RH, and FH and I are paying everything else. I still didn't want my parents to pay DOUBLE!!!!!what they could pay at CLM. I just couldn't justify that.

DO what your heart wants.

Personally for me, I'd go with CLM and a house! Good luck :)

I've never been to the Royalton, but my brother got married at Land's End... and it rained (torrential downpoor sideways!!!) ! It ****** that they had to get married in the ballroom, but honestly, the ceremony is was, 20 min long? Then the rest of the wedding is inside anyway. Long story short--- Best wedding ever. I LOVE THAT PLACE!!! The food is off the hook!!! Dare I say it- the best wedding food ever, and one of the best meals ever. And the service is impeccable! So we ended up going back for their New Yrs Gala--- once again - PERFECT!!!

from what youve said, i would choose clm because it seems that it basically has everything you want and is sooooo much less money. HOWEVER i do agree that you dont want to doubt your choices so if you think you will always be thinking about the other places if you choose clm, then it might not be the right choice.

i have to personally say from experience that now 2 months away fromt he wedding, there are things which i regret spending money on (or as much as we did). there are other things which we went over budget on and dont regret it so its all about a balance. before making a deciosion, i would try to do a detailed budget as close as possible as you can. before booked the more expensive places even if they are kind of your first choice, see if it realistically fits into your budget and you wont have to make too many sacrafices because of it.

I am a Royalton bride and I am biased :)

I looked at so many places on LI (but not CLM, so I can't speak for them)

Here is what The Royalton will offer you that LE and CLM won't... A complete custom wedding..No cookie cutter anything.

You are the only bride there and you get full attention the entire time.

Their staff is exteremly professional (they asked nothing of me the entire day from setup to break down)

You get to spend the night in the bridal suite, which was great since I didn't get to eat my dinner we had it brought to us later than night in the bridal suite after all guests were gone. They also covered our room with desserts from the amazing viennse tables (included as well)

The menu -- totally custom. No prime rib or even filet mignon was served at our wedding...We went all out for no extra costs... NY Strip Steaks (steakhouse quality)

Every station was personally picked by us, (no pick 2 from this column and 3 from this). If you want it, they will make it. We had a grill out on the patio with baby lamb chops (no one had to wait for the pass arounds), steak and baby back ribs (again, no additional costs)

Cake -- bring a picture and they will create it. No extra cost for fondant, etc.

My ceremony was in the gardens, cocktail hour on the patio and in the library, reception in the ballroom.

You will not find an unhappy royalton bride.

I really wanted to have my wedding at LE.....loved it but didnt want to spend the money. Went with CLM and at the time yes I felt like I was settling.....but once I started planning the wedding and dealing with CLM it was by no way a settle. They made it so perfect.

Looking back having the reception at CLM was the best thing I ever did. My day went without a hitch and the room and CH was perfect....we were the first couple of the season to do the boat entrance and was so glad we did it.

DH & I also had money to buy a house since we didnt go broke on the wedding.

Check out the Milleridge Cottage. I was in love with the Royalton as well and almost got married there and its such an awesome place, but ultimately the dance floor was too small for us and I couldn't see spending the money. We are getting SOOOOO much at the Milleridge included in our base price. Viennese hour, coffee bar, Ice cream bar, seafood bar, etc. Plus the Milleridge has a similar antiquey feel as the Royalton does. I know the Royalton says they can fit 225....but I just dont see how that works with dancing. Save save save on your reception (don't cheap out, but save) because you will be shocked how everything else adds up so quickly!

I vote for Lands End 100%. There were sooo many reasons why we had our wedding at Lands End. One of them being the cocktail hour. Even if it is raining there is a TON of room inside for everyone to sit during the cocktail hour. We had about 175 people and nobody complained there wasn't anywhere to sit. The inside of Lands End is out of this world and beautiful for pictures.

During the planning of our wedding the staff was such a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond what we would have expected them to do. We had centerpieces that needed to be put together and we thought we were going to have to do them.....nope our coordinator Jenny coordinated and did everything for us.

I am all about food....and let me tell you, it is the best food ever. You can pick and choose whatever you want. When we made our menu, we actually had an appetizer moved over to the main course and everyone loved it since it was a little different. So they do give you many options. I see that you are using Loven Oven for your florist. We used them too and it was excellent.

Our Bridal attendant made sure we were taken care of at all times. We always had a drink and were able to taste all the apps and all the dinners.

Having our wedding at Lands End was one of the best decisions we ever made. If you do have it there, you won't have any regrets.

I had 200 at my wedding and there was plently of room. We were suppose to have 220 so I even had to eliminate a table the last week of planning. They can definitely fit. We also had an 13 piece band which we were also unsure about fitting but there was no problems.

I have only been to Lands End. It was on the expensive side, but I can tell you that it was worth every last penny. The food was amazing and there was sooooo much of it. The staff was incredible and treated you like king and queen. The setting is beautiful and if it does rain you are still on the water and the views from the windows are breath taking. I can only speak from my experience and we will never regret having our wedding there because it was absolutely the most perfect day. Any questions feel free to FM. Happy planning!!!!
