xposted from 09: Makeup Counter Question

... can I just go to a counter at the mall and say to someone, 'Show me what you'd do to my face if it were my wedding day?' And if I like it, I just ask them to do my wedding?

I don't understand how this process works, but I've seen a few other girls around here who've done this and I am curious. To be honest, I am not willing to spend boatloads of money on numerous trials with numerous people, nor do I feel like shlepping my butt all over the island.

Anyone have any experience in this?

I know some counters require a purchase at least 3 items if they are going to do your makeup right then and there. Some require an appointment. However, some are responsible in selling a certain amount of products to a customer so they are not going to give you a whole makeup job for nothing.

Most of them do freelance makeup work on the side so if you like what they do, you can ask what are their fees to do the makeup.

I feel like they are more interested in selling you a product at that point, ya know?
