Did you ask him about all of this? What did he say?

He said we misunderstood and that the lower prices he quoted were for a different date- which is not what happened.

Did you talk to him? Maybe he forgot. Tell him that you're really gonna have a problem booking the place if they go back on their word like this. But be prepared to walk - places that pull this kind of stuff might do anything after they have your signature. Read and reread your contracts!

i would try to work that out but still shop other CH... heck, tell them oh well, sorry we couldn't come to an agreement and walk out. Take your business elsewhere if they are gonna play games with you.

is the CH your top choice or are there others?

I had the probelm with the Photographer because he quoted us a price and then when we got the contract the tax was included. I didn't even think of asking about the price.. Maybe this is what drove the price up?? Also, if you don;t feel comfortable there, there are PLENTY of Beautiful places in LI. Don;t be afraid to switch!!!

Good Luck

I agree with marcela - have you asked him about it?

With business sometimes they get so busy he may have forgotten - I would first call him up and say you are a little confused you received this contract in the mail and the price was different from what you had agreed on - say I thought we had said that this was waived etc and see what he says you might find he says oh yes.... I will send you a new one - If you are not satisfied with his response you might want to reevaluate if you still want to use them.

Just make sure that everything else is put in writing.

It is our first choice, after a long and painful search. The guy offered to split the difference (and won't waive the extra $500 fee), which my fiance says is good enough - so I guess we'll live with it, but it leaves me with a bad feeling and lots of mistrust!

You said he was the catering rep - did you try speaking with his superior?

Only if you really really love the place would I recommend to stick with it.

If you do stay with them get EVERYTHING in writing and ask for a statement to be written about no additional charges or to list what possible additional charges you might incur.

I strongly recommend checking with the Better Business Bureau before you sign a conract.

Thanks very much for all your help.

Wow Red - you are more trusting than I. Especially after hearing that this is not the first boo-boo CH made. In my opinion I would keep looking. Things might just get more stressful for you and planning is stressful enough w/o a forgetfull CH manager.

Red - I know how much you probably have your heart set on the place after all the work you put into it.....BUT, I have to say that most vendors are on their BEST behavior when they are trying to get you to sign.

I would not continue to work with him. Maybe there is another rep that you could switch to for all the future planning......
