oh my god, i just looked at your profile and saw that you are getting married at lands end in july 2002. so are we - july 12, 2002. that`s awesome, now i have someone to consult w/ besides my FI. what`s your date and time? we plan on having the cocktail hour from 7-8:30 and then the reception from either 8:30-12:00 or 8:30-12:30. the church is on centerport sometime around 4ish.

I love Lands End so much. I originally thought it would be too far east, but made an appointment because someone recommended and when I walked in - I knew. We are getting married July 14, 2002. 2 days after you. We are also having the ceremony there by the gazebo. That starts at 1230 and then the cocktail hour from 1-2 and the reception from 2-6. I just had to have Lands End and gave up the saturday night to afford it. Did you go to Harborfields? I did, but now I live in Queens. Have you gotten any of your vendors yet? that`s so funny because we got engaged super bowl sunday and then my FI had to go away on business for 3 weeks, so i just finished a leave replacement and starting lookin at places. i saw a few that i like, but didn`t get that, 'this is the one, butterflies in the stomach feeling.' i went to look at lands end and i just knew that was the place. my parents came home from vacation 2 days later and my mom wanted to look at some other places first, then we went to lands end and left a deposit. when john got back in town we went back over there and he loved it also. we had to get married in july because i teach and john`s brother is graduating from west point in may and then will be stationed somewhere in the beginning of august. she told us the dates available and we just decided on july 12th for really no particular reason. saturday night is a great deal more also. anyway to answer your questions. the only thing we have booked is lands end, the church, and the photographer (michael fairchild.) this is a really busy summer for us as far as weddings, so i think we are going to hold off the rest of the planning until september. we are going to try and book and band sooner though. i didn`t go to harborfields, but i know a lot of people that graduated from there. colby kane, joe carillo, mike paradise, kelly considine, troy pinto, jody scharken(blah blah something), shannon (can`t think of last name, but the brother's name is dennis), kate (forget last name). most of these people graduated in 1990. when did you graduate? keep me up-to-date w/ the planning and so will I. BTW, did you book w/ Courtney? she`s awesome!

I booked with Gina - who I really like - but Courtney is always really nice to me when i come in. We also wanted the summer because I'm a teacher also - small world huh?

I just wanted to let you both know that I actually attended Courtney's wedding at Land's End. My fiance used to work w/ her husband. Everything was beautiful. The food was wonderful!They had all the 'extras', and it was a good time. I am also a teacher! I currently work upstate, but will be looking for a job on the island...any hints? It seems real tough to get 'in' to any district. If you have any other questions about the wedding, please feel free to ask! Continued success!

Thats great to hear - I have not heard one bad thing about Lands End - which puts that decision at ease. My advice for jobs on li in teaching would be to look at the Sunday NYTimes in the 'weekend review' and apply anywhere. Both schools that I have worked in - I did not have an 'in', so it is possible. (but i do work with people who had an in - so it doesn't hurt) Where so you work upstate? - I know people in sleepy hollow, chappaqua and arlington.

How was the gazebo decorated at Lands End? I am getting married there in August and I'm not sure what to do with the gazebo. Also, did they have the cocktail hour out on the deck or inside? If on the deck, were there any decorations out there?

i`m not really sure about the gazebo becuase we are having the ceremony in a church. depending on the weather, yes the cocktail hour will be outside. as far as decorations, i think she said that they provide fishbowls filled w/ sand and starfish or something. we have only been there 3x and the last time we were there was in feb. i kinda forget about everything myself. i have never been to a wedding there just went to view the place before we booked! sorry that i couldn`t have been more helpful!
