FH is a huge sports fanatic, and even bigger baseball fanatic. We both have passion for baseball, and the NY Yankees. I want to infuse some baseball or Yankee baseball (history) into the reception. I don't want the entire reception to come off as a blue and white pin striped affair (our colors are already chosen - pink, actually). How can I infuse something we both love in a classy way?
ie - in lieu of table #s use baseball player names, or every table would be named after a stadium w/ a cool/vintage black and white photo of that ball park...any other suggestions?

thats really nice, i like your idea for the tables!! you could do a yankees themed grooms cake. also, check out www.gartersbygingersnap.com.....she makes yankee themed garters. I think the key is a few nice yankee themed ideas and it definetly won't take over your whole party!!

those yankee garters are adorable..my fh is a huge yanks fan, and lately we have been over throwing any ideas for the wedding he has given to us, this is a great way to surprise him and give him something to smile at..thanks!

You could get mini baseballs imprinted with your names and date and tie them to your favors.

We're doing a 95% fall theme with a 5% Yankee theme...
Some ideas...
Use a pinstripe jersey as the 'guest book' then in future can frame.
What we're doing is being announced as baseball players...pitcher, catcher, etc. All guys are coming out in Yankee Jerseys, BM carrying those small Yankee flags, FG will have Yankee Teddy Bear and I will have my bouquet replaced with my giant #1 Yankee foam finger! HA! The MC does impressions and we're seeing how good his Bob Shepard impersonation is.

Check out the summer issue of Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine. I was flipping through in the store today and noticed there was a little bit on incorporating Baseball in weddings... It was cute and MS - elegant!

we just ordered our favors we are ordering official yankees baseballs in acrylic cases imprinted with our names and wedding dates, we are wrapping them with ribbons and tying mini bats to them...im very exciting! we are also going to have the bm make the table cards..they are going to be jerseys with the players numbers on them...also for our centerpieces we are having the florist place small baseballs in the centers of the flowers..we have seen them do it with pearls..so we figure why not with mini baseballs!

Another Idea is that for your tables instead of number you can nam the tables use the old timers like babe ruth whitey ford micky mantel and get black and white photos of them as well

We're doing the table names as baseball stadiums too - I like the idea of the classic black/white pics - these are great ideas!
I thought maybe for a wishbowl too - you can have baseballs and pens for guests to write on them.

Someone I knew gave out a Yankee baseball as a favor and on it was printed 'Thank you for sharing our opening day' (something lke that!) also i saw a cake online of shea stadium once, FH is a mets fan so i was thinking of getting that for him.
