Re: Yasmin?

loooooove Yasmin!! It's like my miracle BCP! I was on ortho tricyclen which made me an insane emotional irrational wreck with bad skin. Switched to Yasmin- and I'm normal (whatever that is! haha)! Periods are so much easier and lighter, clearer skin, and I'm not an emotional nutcase!

Go for it- lots of girls have had success with it!

Re: Yasmin?

yasmin has the benefit of having a diuretic in it - which can help with bloating, and many women report minor weight loss on yasmin. A new study also just came out that showed it was superior to traditional pills in helping with mood swings just before you get your period. Be aware, though, before you decide to change because of blood clot risk, that all birth control pills carry an increased risk of developing blood clots, yasmin included, but in general, unless you smoke or have a close female relative with a history of clots, the risk is very minor, just know what to look for in the case it does happen.

I love Yasmin--no bloating or weight gain or other side effects. It also has been great at clearing up my skin.

Nope. I NEVER missed a pill. EVER. No antibiotics either. I was placed on Metformin for my polycystic ovaries about 2 months before and they have said there is a slight chance that it boosted my fertility, but they can't say for sure. All the Dr said was 'the pill is not 100%'.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy with the pregnancy but apparently it is a 'light' pill and has a 92% success rate against pregnancy. That's an 8% window of opportunity. I don't want to scare you away from Yasmin. It could just be it didn't work for me.

While I was on Yasmin though, I loved it. It does have a diuretic in it which is great & it also has spironolcatone in it, which can help with facial hair growth.

yeah, they all say that. But when I met with my Dr last week to discuss post baby birth control options, he told me the 92% stat for Yasmin & said we'd need something stronger. I almost died. I was like NINETY TWO???? Are you KIDDING?????

Again, maybe it just didn't work for ME. But I was told I couldn't get pg b.c of my ovaries & now I am due in 4 weeks. And I was on the pill.... Who the hell knows why things happen. Maybe it was just meant to be & it has nothing to do with Yasmin at all.

It will totally help with the lip growth. I noticed a marked improvement. Oh - something else I just remembered - if you go on Yasmin, take it at the SAME TIME every day to get the most effiecency out of it. I learned about that after I was PG. I didn't know that one.

wow! thanks for the heads up abou the 92% thing. i will definitely talk to my dr about that.
i've been told the time thing before, and i try to follow it as best as i can. it sounds like yasmin a weaker pill than the one i'm currently on so maybe should follow that 'time' rule more closely.

I was on it, hated it. It made my boobs feel really weird, had infections and other side effects, would never take it again. Everyone is different.

I'm on it and I really have no complaints. My girls did get a little bigger...I haven't really noticed about the hair thing, although I've always had light colored lip hair. My eyebrows are still as bushy as ever tho!! The only thing I have ever experienced was if I missed a pill and double dosed the next day I would get a massive headache. My periods are definently lighter although I swear my cramps are worse!! I never really had cramps before tho...all in all, I'd recommend it!

Re: Yasmin?

I think as long as u take it the same time everyday ull be ok...bc it's a lighter pill, if u take it at 9am one day and 9pm the next, ure leaving a 12hr period with minimal coverage...if ure ovulating...then its possible to get preggo!! I've been on it for a while, I wouldn't worry!

okay...I take it at the same time every weekday at least...it's the weekends that it varies if I wake up later, like an hour or two...is that a big deal?

Thanks!

I don't think so...just be more conscious of when ure ovulating and be more careful around those times...thats what I do. What I figured out that works well is that I take it at night. Since I wake up at 5:30am when I work, and at about 10am when I'm off...I decided to take it around 11pm at night. This way, whether I'm working or not, I'm always awake at that time. It seems to be a lot more consistent and I don't forget. I'm also not rushing to wake up or jumping outta bed at noon like, OH MY GOD!! I forgot to take my pill!! Then again..I'm CRAZY!!!

EXACTLY... this may have been what I happened to me. I never ever missed a pill but I never knew to take it at the same time every day and someone got past the goalie.
