I found out yesterday from my aunt (whose like my mother) that my cousin bought his g/f an engagement ring. She said he was going to probably propose today before she went home for Christmas.
Well at 10:53pm last night I wake up to my text msg going off and he proposed last night!!!!!!!!!! They live in Texas and he took her to the San Antonio RiverWalk (it has an inside mall and restaurants on the river with beautiful bridges and lights along the way-super pretty) and took her on one of the bridge's overpasses and got on one knee.....
He is only 20 and still has 1 1/2 yrs of school to finish but he said they are going to wait 2 years so they can graduate and get good jobs. He is going to school for criminal justice and his fiance(she's 21) is going to be a nurse (neonatal) . I spend almost 2 hrs texting him last night and he is so happy......He is like my little brother and I am so excited for him.
Though people think he is too young, they are supporting his decision and know they are 2 responsible, good kids who know what they want. His fiance has mainly male family members so he already said she wants to talk wedding details with me.... So exciting.....
P.s. the cutest thing is , my cousin & fiance have the same first names as my aunt and uncle....
Both are Vincent and Susan.. it must be sign!!!!!!!!!!!!

aww yay that's so exciting!! and i was 20 and fh was 22 when we got engaged but our families supported us too because they knew that we are responsible and would never ever make a decision like that if it wasn't right. that's great that everyone is supporting them. trust me, it really makes the difference because we had friends who were making comments that we were so young, yet our families were the ones supporting us 100% and it made us feel soo much better..

yes that is true,kids get married young down there, 2 of his friends ending up getting married when they were 18. and one of them is now expecting a baby.
When i spoke to my aunt last night she said that they think he is too young but she 'is not going to lose my son of this. If he's happy, I'm happy. She's a great girl and they are both mature people who know what they want,'
I applaud my aunt and uncle who told them how they felt (they knew he was going to propose and actually went ring shopping with him) but still are showing their support. Too many people get way too involved and cause drama for no reason. My aunt (also my godmother) is a great person who has done so much for me in my life and I am so happy to see her be happy and know that she won't turn into a FMIL from down under.......From personal experience, I know how tough it can be but I already told my cousin to tell his fiance she doesn't know how lucky she is......

I def think age is just a number... some people( like FHs brother) gave us a little slack for getting engaged at 23... but its our choice! We will be married by 25, and thats fine with us. Everyone matures differently! For example, his brother that was giving us slack doesnt even want kids till he is 40! I say to each his own!

i just spoke to my cousin and he is so excited and his fiance is the sweetest ever, age is just a number and when u know, u know.....
I met FH at 17 and we just celebrated 12 years together! Can't wait for our wedding!!!!! It does work out!!!!!!!!!!!
