Yellow nails.....yuck!
Does anyone know how to get rid of yellow nails FAST!! I was thinking of just leaving nail polish off for a few days, but that is just so ugly because they are yellow!! Anyone know of a quick fix?? I am going with a French manicure for my wedding on Friday, and I don't want the yellow showing through......THANKS!!!!

If you have someone that you regularly go to to have your nails done, I would ask them.... They usually know just what to do.Otherwise, I would go see a doctor.

I hate to say it Marni. But, I think the best bet is to let your nails breathe. Which means no nail polish. That's usually why a nail goes yellow. It'll probably go away in a day or 2. It's normal so don't freak!

Marni, don't worry. As Tracy said, let them breathe. Or you can visit your manicurist and they may have a solution they could apply to it.By Friday, you should be fine.
Also, they shouldnt show after your manicure.

I agree with the letting them breathe also try lemon juice
For future reference always wear 2 coats of base coat with dark colors. I've had the yellow nails before too
It is usually from dark nailpolish

Marnles, there is stuff out called Yellow Out, you can get in Genovese or CVS and you put it on and it lightens them. If not, I would say buffing them will help. Good Luck! If it doesn't lighten by next weekend, try a darker nude or pink color for your french!! It is almost here!!

Try peroxide. I read it in a magazine.

I get that after wearing dark nail colors for too long. Your best bet is to let them breathe for a few days and soak at least once a day in lemon juice.

This is hilarious. I just took my nail polish off before I signed on and I had the SAME EXACT PROBLEM. LOL.I just used a buffer on them, it helped a lot. Then I put an extra coat of nail strengthener and a light colored polish.

I read this in a magazine, and I'm not sure if it works, but... it's harmless, so I guess it's worth a try.Make a paste of peroxide and baking soda, apply it to your nails, let it sit for 10 minutes or so (i would guess longer is better) and then rinse it off.
Good luck!

Wow......thanks ladies!!!!!!! My next venture is finding a nail salon near me (in Long Beach) that does airbrushing for french manicures.....ugh!! I was originally going to this salon in Carle Place, near the salon where I'm getting my waxing...the window says airbrushing, but when I walk in they said their machine is broken....grrr....

Re: Yellow nails.....yuck!
Ok, I've heard of two ways to get rid of yellow nails, but I've never tried either, so I can't vouch for whether or not they work.1. Use lemon juice (someone else mentioned this above)
or
2. Soak your nails for a while in denture cleaner for 15 minutes.
I also think letting your nails breathe would help the situation.
