We are going to Oahu Kaui and Maui. We were thinking of staying Royal Hawaiian The four seasons and The Princeville. But we went to the Travel Agent and said All these Hotels are beautiful they are kind of out of the way of the night life and restaurants. She suggested We stay at all Hyatts. We would also get a discount if we stayed at all Hyatts. We are going to San Francisco and also staying at the Hyatt at Fishermans Warf. Has anyone stayed at the Hyatts in Hawaii? I don't know what to do this is so darn difficult.

Re: Yet another Hawaii Question
The Hyatt in Kauai is absolutely fabulous, but there's really no nightlife on Kauai no matter where you stay.
You go for the exotic scenery and thats found closer to the Princeville (in the lush north) then the Hyatt (dry south).
We stayed up north in Princeville (though not the Princeville resort) and at the Hyatt. And while I LOVED the Hyatt pools and they are definitely worth the visit, I loved the north shore of Kauai much more then the south shore. At the Hyatt, you don't ever want to leave the hotel, and thats fabulous. But Kauai has so much to offer, that JUST staying at the hotel is a waste (but BOY are those pools FANTASTIC - they entertained my husband for 2 days)
As for the other islands, I think Four Seasons would beat the Hyatt any day, but I have no personal experience with either hotel. I know the Four Seasons in SF kicks ass over the Hyatt (as do many hotels here). Our SF Hyatt is nothing special - Fisherman's Wharf is a good location for tourists but thats about it.

Re: Yet another Hawaii Question
I agree with Lisa.... there is no nightlife on Kauai - everything is done by 9pm... the Hyatt is beautiful and the pool is nice - we had snuck in to go into it, but Princeville is beautiful - that part of Kauai is much nicer. Even on Maui there isn't a whole lot of nightlife - mostly we were so tired from being up early and in the sun all day, we had dinner, a few drinks, and then bed. I was falling asleep by 10pm....I've never been to Oahu, but I hear the nightlife there is a lot better.

Re: Yet another Hawaii Question
My friends did and the one in Maui they said is 'extermely nice' but the one in Kauai they RAVED about.
If you rather put your money towards things like touristy stuff during the day rather than towards the hotels, I'd stay at the Hyatts. Also, dont' forget for most of the day you won't even be in the hotel.

Re: Yet another Hawaii Question
We stayed at the Hyatt on Maui and Kuaui. We loved both for different reasons. We went to the Princeville (we were going to stay there but then changed) It was beautiful and we saw the sunset over the ocean which was Perfect. As beautiful as the hotel was, we were glad we didn't stay there. It was about an hour (or a little more) away from the Hyatt, which is where the action, not that there was much (resturants and stuff) were. the breakfast included in the hyatt package makes it all worth while. We got free breakfast every day which would have been $40 a day
You won't be dissappointed in the hyatts IMO

Re: Yet another Hawaii Question
The Hyatt in Kauai is gorgeous (I visited the Princeville and while it is gorgeous - it wasn't for me and it was a foggy there while it was gorgeous by the Hyatt)...like the posters said above - there isn't much nightlife in Kauai...even the hotel bar was empty when we went. But they have a bar and great restaurants in the hotel and they are a very short drive from many other great restaurants.
The 4 Seasons in Maui was next door to the hotel I stayed at and it is in Wailea. It is a very pretty part of Maui and there are several great hotels and restaurants in the area but there is not nightlife. From what I was told by people down there is the Wailea section is known more for 'romance' and gorgeous beaches. DH and I like to go out on vacation but for some reason we didn't care in Hawaii. Plus everything there is early to rise and you have to start everything at like 7am to make the most of it. We did take a night bus trip to the part of Maui where the night life is suppose to be and I wasn't too impressed (it was this Halloween Mardi Grais thing going on in town)..but there is more restaurants, bars and shopping in those areas. FM me if you want more info!
