Yet another Invite Q

So I'm addressing the invites tonight..... For co workers that I have no idea are married or not do I address the outer envelope as:
Mr. John Doe

and the inner as:
John Doe and Guest


this is fun can't wait for the seating charts

Do they wear a wedding ring?
