Yet another shower question...

Do you mail an invite to someone out of state that you know can't/won't come? I do not want to make it look like I am asking for gifts, but don't want to offend anyone by not inviting them.
For ex- fh's aunt lives in fla. she is coming for the wedding, and most likely will not come to the shower. Her sisters all live here and will be invited.

I would mail her one just to be nice. I am sending invitations to people I know won't be able to make it because of the same reason, but i thought it would be the nice thing to do.

I would send one, it shows you have class not that your looking for gifts.

I was told that if you are inviting them to the wedding, you invite them to the shower - even if you don't think they are coming (let them decide that - and then you're totally off the hook ).

I actually told some of my out of town guests that I told MOH to not invite anyone who lived like more than 3 hours away, b/c I knew it was really unrealistic to expect them to come and that I did not want them to feel obliged to purchase a gift. These were my close friends/roomates from college and they all perfectly understood and agreed. Now its like a pact we've made: We all attend eachothers weddings, but do not extend shower invitations. Being honest and up front worked great for me, but I guess it depends on the person.

you dont have to invite everyone you invite to the wedding, some of the girls you might not be close to, and I have heard plenty of stories of ladies who feel awkward cause they dont really know the person... but it sounds like you are close to her, send her an invite(since she lives far away you can always call her up and tell her you wanted to invite her to include her, even though you know its far) who knows ....maybe she was planning a trip to visit her daughers anyways
