YIKES! What do I do? wedding-work related.....

I have been working in my job for many years- and a lot of the clientele know that I am getting married. A lot of them have gone out of there way to ask me about the wedding and a few have given ,me gifts for the engagement, even though I did not send them an announcement. Here is the question, We are getting married in the catering hall and Fh and I are on a budget and are paying for the entire wedding ourselves, a lot of them have asked about when the wedding is and just assume they are going to be invited. I do not want to invite the whole world, and it is not like I can just invite them to the church, we are Jewish and like I stated before are getting married at the catering hall. What do I do?????

When they ask when it is say'we are having a small wedding Whatever the date is.' I hate when people assume they are invited.

Just tell them that you are keeping it very small.

you tell them just what you wrote in your post.. any person in their right mind would understand that!! if they don't sweetie, it's just too bad.. just make sure that you send out thank you's to those who send you gifts right away..

I work with some of my closest friends that I was not able to invite so what I did from the beginning when they asked about planning was subtly mention that we were keeping it pretty small (just family and a few friends). I also had the advantage that the wedding was in NY and I live in Dallas. But I would just subtly let people know that it is a small wedding and see how that goes. If when it is time to send out your invites and people are at the mailbox waiting for them, I would then take them aside and explain the situation. Everyone knows weddings cost money, and that there are limitations when it comes to the invite list. I'm sure they will understand.
