My FH and I are only 22 when we get married I will be 24 and a month after he will be 24. We have both (but mostly him) been getting a lot of crap for being so young. Someone even told him to dump me because we are too young! IMAGINE THAT.

Only 21 here!!!! I haven't had too many people actually say that I was too young, BUT don't take to heart anyone's comments because no matter how old you are....it is still the most exciting time in your life!!!!!

I'm only 21, Fh is 22. I hear it ALL the time. I actually took someone off my guest list last week because they made the RUDEST comment about our age. Its no one else's business...they dont know your situation, your reasons, nor do they really know your true relationship.
To be honest, what bugs me about people's comments on this topic is their forgetfulness. It was onyl about one generation ago that it was the NORM to marry very young. And dont worry about the whole 'getting married young and not feeling the same way about your spouse' thing -- there are people who got married at 18 who are still very much in love (like my grandparents) and then there are people who waited til they were 28 or 30 and got divorced 2 years later. Age really has nothing to do with it... The best you can do is roll your eyes or say 'you know, thats really rude and none of your business' and walk away. dont let it get to you too much (even though I know how hard that is) because when all is said and done, you and FH KNOW how strong your love is for one another, and thats all that matters.

Sorry to crash your boards!
But I am 21, just turned 21 this past October (which is the day I actually got engaged on as well)....we dont plan on getting married until 2009...but I will be only 23 (turning 24 5 months after) and Fh will only be 22 turning 23 exactly a month after our wedding!
Don't let what other people say bring down your happiness!!! I did at first because people kept saying to me 'oh are you guys just getting engaged and married because he (my FH) is in the Marine Corps and everyone gets married young then??'
Little do those idoits know- he gets out of the Corps July of 2008 and we are getting married 2009 so I got over those comments quickly and just remember who and what makes me Happy!
That is what you need to think about- not those ignorant peope!!!

dont even worry bout it you are in love and thats all that matters. could it be that maybe tose that are judging have been through bad marriages and are either divorced or going through divorces or even separated

DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM!!!!!!! I was 22 when FH proposed to me and will be 24 on our wedding day. I've lost count at the many people who have told me that I was too young to get married especially since FH is about 4.5 years older then me. Even some of my family members were concerned because I just graduated from college and started a new job. But it all comes down to this... You are the only person who knows where your heart is. You are the only person who knows when you are ready. And girl if you're ready then you're ready. HTH!

This is a quote my father said to my brothers in an attempt to get them out of the house (think of failure to launch!) Anyway he said 'By 23 I was married with my first child!' 30 years later they are still happily married!

People always want to steal your sunshine. Instead of just being happy for you, they have to find all the negative aspects about it. When 80 year olds get engaged they don't say 'hey, do you guys reallize you're gonna die soon?' They should leave us young ones alone.

You are in love. That is what I would say back. You know who you are and a lot of people at your age may not be the same way. They may still be in the selfish part of their lives where they want to party and spend more time doing things for themselves. I was one of them. Now I am ready. people know when they are ready and it seems to me that you are.
Just listen to your heart and prove them all wrong!

i just turned 23 and will be 24 when i get married and fh will be 25...we have gotten comments on the reverse end saying you two have been together for 8 years wheres the ring lol...but i have gotten comments are u sure its the right one? forever is forever...blah blah...just ignore it all and enjoy the time of planning your wedding!!
