If you send The President an invite to your wedding, The White House sends a congratulations letter from Barack Obama. (I did this for my HS and college graduations too - different presidents...) Here is the address:

It definitely takes a while for a response, but good for a keepsake! I'll let everyone know if they plan to attend my wedding. Hope they realize we aren't inviting kids...!! PS this was also listed in Modern Bride June issue...

we sent an invite with a return stamp about 6 weeks before our wedding and now we are married 7 weeks and still haven't gotten anything back.
Maybe because we didn't invite the kids, ha ha ha...

He'd just be mortified for some odd reason. I REALLY wanted to do this to surprise FH with the letter (maybe getting him to think that the president gets a list of US marriages that take place at a certain time), but then he'd figure out that I went ahead and sent the invite anyway. Oh, well. . .would have been cool to show the kids. . .
