You get to taste the food first?

I'm new. Sorry. Not sure how to use this thing. I've read that some of you guys have had a chance to taste the food at Larkfield Manor. How do you go about doing that. Do you have to leave money first? What do you mean? What do you do?

I can only say that we didnt taste the food first. I know some places are willing to set that up for you others suggest you wait until they have an open house or somehting like that. When you go and look just ask the banquet manager if that could be arranged before you signed your contract!

Most places do let you taste the food, mines didn't, altho I badgered them into letting me do so I only tasted appetizers but I've heard nothing but good reviews about their food so I'm not stressing that.

Thanks guys. I will call them and see what I have to do. I'm so nervouse about this. I have no idea what questions I should ask, besides the obvious. I'm glad I can look on here to see what other people think.

We were able to taste our food before we boooked at the Riviera. But we had been there a few times to look at it and bring close fmily members to see it too so they knew we were serios about booking. Good Luck. And welcome to LIW!!

i booked at larkfield, and frank said our deposit was fully refundable if after the food tasting we were unhappy with the food. fortunatly the food is wonderful!! i really mean that. i'm really looking forward to having it again. even my father, who is particular about certain things loved everthing. the cool thing about larkfield is that you can bring an bunch of people, we had five, and you sit down and actually have dinner. we left totally stuffed. Good luck!!!

Thanks. I'm going to call and set this up. Here's the thing though. Our parents are helping us pay for the wedding (thank god), and my FH's parents are very picky. And well, this place is my choice to go to, and I'm glad they let you taste the food, and if it's as good as you say it is, they'll be impressed. But I need to know opinions, good, bad or indifferent, so I know what to look for and can be prepared when they pick out what they don't like. I went to the web site, and it looks really nice, so I'm confident about that. But I also know that no place is perfect, so lay it on me ladies. I'm just doing my homework on this. I swore by John Anthony's and was completely let down. So now I'm scared

When you have your food tasting at Larkfield, you don't pick one thing to eat. When we went, they served us the pasata course, the salad, and then they brought out a HUGE dish with samples of all the food they serve at the wedding and everyone takes from that plate. They decribe all the foods, how they are prepared and then they serve you. The food was awesome. I just wish I could have seen the cocktail hour food, but that would be so costly, they would go ot of business. When I went in recently though, Frank had a video in his office playing and it showed the cocktail hour set up and it made me hungry! 13 days and counting

I was able to taste the food first before I put money down. I just asked if I could.
Tasting the food totally sealed the deal for us.
Hope that helps.
p.s. my BM is getting married at larkfield next aug too! I also have my christmas party there every year. You have nothing to worry about, it is wonderful.

Re: You get to taste the food first?

I'm another Larkfield Manor Bride and am having my reception there 11/1/03. I left my deposit and then had my tasting about 1 month after. It was great!! They gave us so much food!! Every time someone asks where my wedding is and I tell them, they always say the food is amazing. One of the girls I work with, her friend had her wedding there at the end of July and she said it was great!! Hope you book there...
