You know what ***** about this whole tipping thing.....
Tipping based on percentages doesn't really work.....
Let's say that I am paying $1,000 for my hair and makeup people - well, they are spending quite a lot of time with me compared to my cocktail hour musicians that I am paying $1,000 for and they are only with me for an hour!!! They don't deserve the same tip....So, really....it's not really fair to use percentages. I guess I'll just use my discretion

I agree, I think that people are forgetting that a TIP is for a job well done, but unfortunately it has come to a point where it's expected all the time. By all means, something goes wrong, or you're not happy with the service, use your discretion.

I'm not tipping based on percentages. In fact, in quite a lot of cases I'm not tipping at all. For example, I am being charged an 18% service fee at the hall. That is supposed to cover the wait staff and bartenders. I will not be handing out extra envelopes. Several of my vendors work alone and are the owners of the company. They are not getting tipped either, unless they go above and beyond the call of duty. After all, 100% of their fee is going straight to them. If I tip, I have now paid MORE than the contracted price for the service!!

same here! we're only tipping the maitre'd and bridal attendant but not the bartenders and wait staff. I will tip my vendors based on their performance not a percentage. If they $uck, why am I gonna give them a big tip? I should be glad FH is letting me tip to begin with, he's like 'we're paying so much $ for everybody already so why am I paying them more???' I'll have to sneak tips out!
