You know what makes me sad.

Original post by CubanBride

The loss of tradition. It seems like a lot of people don't like tradition anymore. I don't know, it just makes me sad.

I agree, traditions have been changing forever. do what you want, and don't be upset that not everyone has the same ideas as you. not everythng YOU do may seem traditional to others either. look at it from both perspectives.

Very well said. At some point, all things 'traditional' were brand new.

I am still a little confused too what you mean. As long as you can maintain traditions in your own life that are important to you, why worry about what other people chose to do?

well said. there is no point getting upset over what others choose to do.

think you're right. To each his own though. Cubanbride is also planning her own bridal shower and that's not very 'traditional' to me.

Doing things just because its a 'tradition' in my opinion, is a very dangerous territory. Its a tradition that women don't have a voice, and just stay at home. If everyone just excepted it as a tradition, and no one got up to fight that tradition, we would still be cleaning and cooking in our kitchens..
It was a tradition to hit children as a form of discipline.. and well, now its IMMORAL. I think people should do what is comfortable for them. I think the 20th century is such a remarkable century because Traditions are broken.
I am not saying that traditions are bad. I think that we are lucky, where we are at an age where we don't HAVE TO do things just because their are traditions. We do what feels comfortable to us...

I am not talking strictly about weddings, but in life in general. And I am not saying that people should have the same traditions as I do. I just feel that there are so many who don't believe in tradition at all.

Interesting...cause i don't know ANYONE who doesn't have some sort of traditions. Everyone i know has their own personal traditions as well as more general ones..I think your statement might be a little bit exagerated...or maybe the people you talked with are a weird group. But i am pretty sure everyone has their own 'thing' whether that be public or private

No, I'm not planning my own bridal shower.

I guess I'm not really explaining myself well enough. Forget it. It's not important or anythnig.
