The fact that I have sooooooooooo much time to plan this wedding, and I cant start any projects because its so far ahead of time.

Programs, placecards, menus, table numbers. I cant even buy any thing that has to do with color because I havent even picked out the bridesmaid dresses. Ugh!! I know that when I finally do get the answers I want, I will be in a rush to do all these projects instead of taking my time, which i have plenty of time now.

I know- I have a short engagemnt & it gets to me too. I feel like I can't do anything untill BM dresses are picked. Which I think they are, but not orderd, so the florsit wouldn't even talk to me about BM bouquets.
When I get a chance I am goign to try & do proagrams with as much info as I have- we haven't picked the music & readings yet, but bascailly just to get a layout. You could do the same thing with placecards, just make proto-types.
Did you buy your favors? You could always do that & wedding rings without having other things done. Or register. That's a good thing to get out of the way.

i hear ya but i think it is a bit weird to start things now
booking places is one thing but making placecards and menues etc... is anothre a bit early
things are at a stand still for me right now i still ahve to book hotels that is about it

Oh yes you can do stuff.. MY PLAN is to be done with EVERYTHING 4 months before the wedding, so that leaves me six to do everything. I want to enjoy my showers, bacheroletter parties etc, without rushing.. SO GET ON IT GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'll be so happy you started early!!!

Divabride... we're getting married the same weekend, and I totally know how you feel. It doesn't help that my mother keeps giving me a run down of things I SHOULD be doing now and making me feel behind!!! She keeps telling me if I don't get on things I'm not going to get a band or florist that I like. Is she insane???? I know you need to start early, but we have the place and the church and we're starting the registering thing.. I love her enthusiam, but she's making me a wreck!!!!
Although it's annoying not to be able to do some things, I have found that simply researching and putting together a binder with pictures, ideas, etc... helps calm me down, and makes me feel like I'm doing something. That way, when the time comes to go full steam ahead, all the backwork will have been done! :)

I agree! I just booked my band and they have dates booked through March 06'
one of there other bands was booked for my date in Sep. as well as a date in June. And they are days on Fridays not even Sat's!

Ok...time to get on this band thing!!!! I haven't really narrowed down a list of those to check out yet. It seems like there ate just so many. I have an idea, as I worked for Hank Lane years ago, so certain band names sound familiar, but I really haven't got a list of those to see. Eeek! Sounds like a good project for this weekend! Good thing FH and I took tomorrow off. And he thought we were going to relax....!

I heard many people say really great things about Code Blue. We don't have a band, and I have never actually heard Code Blue in person, but I have only heard amazing things about them.....
ETA: I know how ya feel...we still have so much time and there are so many 'small' things left to do that really can't be determined until it gets closer to the wedding date...like favors...how many do you order unless you know how many people are coming? And you dont know who's coming until you send out the invites.....and start getting rsvp's. And you really don't send the invites until 6-8 mnths prior....it's so FRUSTRATING!

Its funny b/c my wedding is AFTER yours and I can't stop doing things!! As far as booking things I already have the hall, dj, florist, photo & video. I know what colors the girls are wearing and I know I want the theme color to be red...so I already have the programs and menus (all I have to do is print them when the time comes), the garters, ring pillow, unity candles & candelabra, rice & decorated packets, FH's wedding band, knife set, toasting glasses, save the dates, honeymoon brochures, and I picked out the favors & placecards but haven't gotten them yet. I am too excited to stop!! And I don't care who says its too early...I have saved a lot of cash so far getting things that I love when I see them on sale so the early bird does catch the worm! I say once you pick the color for the girls, and you kow what you want...GO FOR IT! Good luck!
ETS - that I am a neurotic and completely anal retentive so keep that in mind!

Wow ULoveit, you are inspiring me! I have only booked the hall and church so far, but have started thinking about colors and even went to a couple of band showcases.
I am starting a new job soon and there is going to be a lot of traveling involved so I want to get as much done as I can before I start! I agree that the early bird catches the worm!!!

Uh you guys are making me think now!!! I only have the hall, the photographer, videographer, DJ and some little things like bubbles, guest book, pen, some gifts.
There are so many little things to do I dont even know where to start. We are having problems with the church so thats something that will take a long time to sort out. I know the BM dress colors already. I am going looking for my dress next month.
So much to think about and so much to do - I dont know what to do at this point! And I do have an organizer with plenty of ideas....

I am also starting a new job...probably within the next month or two...right now my hours are 7-3 and I work 10 minutes from myhouse...the new job is in the city-1 hour away- and I will work 9-5:30...I am trying to accomplish as much as I can while I am still available in daylight! PLUS ITS FUN!! Good luck!

I am pretty anal about everything also. I just want things to be so perfect and the day to go so great. I have my church, my hall, my photographer, and my videographer so far. I thought they were the most important. We are also starting to look at honeymoon spots....thinking St. Lucia (Sandals Grande). I am anxious to look at gowns, but I am forcing myself to wait until the end of the summer!

My mother waited a full 18 hours after I got engaged to ask if I had called the church yet? Are you kidding me?! I know she was (is) just excited for me, but I only plan to do this once and I want to enjoy it.
We took a few weeks to 'just be engaged' before we started the planning. It was good for us.
The nice thing about having some time is that you can start planning without turning into a Bridezilla. Start slowly and have fun.
