everyone always says that you learn who your real friends are whe you are planning a wedding. I never had ALOT of girl friends to begin with (i find most girls catty). When I got engaged, I had about 5 really good girl friends. A year and half later, i'm down to 2! At least I know where I stand...

FI and I both have very few friends but we have each other and that's all that matters.

i agree with this....

it is hard to plan a party sometimes because it brings to light some emotional things that you have spent most of your life trying not to think about... for me specifically, i have lots of acquaintances and very few good friends, so my bridal party only has three people. it hurts my feelings when people ask why is it soo small, or when other girls always say they have 6 or 8. But i dont have any cousins in the u.s., and few really good friends, so i did not want to ask people just for the sake of having a large bridal party. And my family has been pretty bad about things too, my sister and my mom dont ever get along so my sister did not come to my engagement party and i had to help my mom plan my entire shower even though my sister is my moh and could help. at this point she is pretty much just showing up to the wedding.

But i have had a few good things happen: two of my friends from california from college are flying all the way out to ny just for my wedding, and i have 6 relatives coming from italy! and i have realized more and more how much my fh is my best friend and how i really wont ever be lonely again in life after we get married. i will have my best friend with me always

I know what you mean... my family is good but half a country away. Friends.... yea, pretty much non-existent.... But, what can you do? We all know for sure we have our one true 'Best Friend' in our FH's now.

Let the rest of the world be who they are. We can't change them.

Just be happy that you found your soul mate and are about to start your own family together!

you know what is funny, i feel the same exact way. recently... i have felt very alone and like certain people arent making much of an effort to be involved which i ask very little of. i feel better that others are feeling the same way. i am now starting to realize who is really there for me and who is really not...

Girls, I thought I was the only one! At the end of the day, everyone is right. It is about you and FH. However, it can be difficult if you are marrying someone who is a social butterfly with a ton of friends and I have 5.

I've had really mixed experiences. Some of my friendships, I definitely overestimated, but others I underestimated and those people have really come through for me. Family's been mixed too - and the negative experiences have not come from where I would've expected. But what's helped me through it is the friends I have, regardless of the number, are great, and so is FH, and you know what, my wedding is the most important day of my life, but not the most important day for everyone else (including some family members). I'd like it to at least be important to some of these people, but to a lot of people, it's just another wedding. Realizing that actually has made me feel much better about the whole thing because I've realized people are not trying to intentionally hurt me, it's just not as important to them as it is to me and FH. And it's not like I haven't had moments where I lost sight of what was really important about the day because I got sucked into the details. Sometimes it's good to step back and evaluate yourself and where others might be coming from. It's really helped me feel better. Some people do s*ck but don't let them get you down and ruin your day for you.
