You will never believe what happen last night!!!

Because my mother and I just looove DIY projects, we decided to make BM T-shirts with iron on transfers.. My FH designed it (will post pics later on) and the ones we finished came out great!!!

I think we were on the 5th or 6th one and my mom was ironing it with pressure (that's what they say to do) and BANG!!!! My glass kitchen table smashed into a billion pieces and cracked a tile!!!!!

Thank god no one was hurt or my dogs weren't under the table! I can't believe it! We always do our ironing on the table so I don't know what broke it.. My mom couldn't have been pressing that hard to break 1/2 inch thick glass...

On top of everything, I call my brother to come over to help clean it up and after the kitchen floor was all clean, I put a soda down on my non-existent glass table I just made an even bigger mess!!

My mom was so upset! She was crying and I felt soo bad... Me and my brother are going to go to a glass shop later and have another piece made!

Just felt like sharing.. Plus I am still a little deaf from the noise

i wonder if the heat was too much for it and shattered the glass. I would be freaking out-thats scary!

Glad to hear noone was hurt. Definitely something to try and google and see if the heat could have somehow transferred to the glass and distributed therefore making it more 'pliable'..or there may have been tiny 'cracks' within glass itself that heat could have expanded. ( All those yrs of Chem may be paying off)

OMG that would have scared me. Glad everyone was okay.

I think it was the heat. I had a glass plate break because I had a bowl with hot soup on it. It may not have been tempered glass.

OMG this happened to my mom a few yearss back same thing she was ironing and the glass table shattered ..........CRAZY!!! glad to hear no one was hurt

OMG! That is scary. I iron on a glass table all the time too. I better get an ironing board from now on. You might want to pick her up one of those too. LOL!
