I have to talk to the man about it. Not because I'd let him tell me what to do, but I feel like I have to break the news to him (he adores the yellow hair).
If you make a drastic change, do you feel like you have to warn him?

Before the wedding one day I said to him 'I think after the wedding I'm going to cut my hair, not too short, but shorter than what we're used to'.
Background: You have to realize I have uber long hair and I never get cuts, just trims. So this would be a major change!!
He replied OK, but then the next day he said 'I've been thinking about it and you can do whatever you want but I like it long, I don't want you to cut it. It's not up to me tho, you can do it if you want.'
Then I decided to just keep it as is. Maybe I'll reconsider after we have a baby, but for now I'll let him enjoy it!!!

nope.
i used to change my hair all the time and would just show up with something new. sometimes he wouldnt even notice - othertimes he would say dumb things like 'it looks purple'....
he currently doesnt even like my hair dark - but when i put out my hand for money to keep getting the blonde highlights he so adored - all of a sudden i was insane to pay that much...

I don't even tell FH when I have a hair appointment. He doesn't care. He appreciates taht my hair is clean and not pulled back in a bun or ponytail.

well...I'm pretty boring when it comes to this stuff. I've been rocking the same hairstyle (give or take a few inches) and my natural color since we met... ...so I would definitely have to at least mention a big change beforehand..or he probably wouldn't recognize me

Lets see. DH and I have been together for just about 3 years. In that time he has seen my hair:
butch short and red
shoulder length brown with highlights
chin length natural brown no highlights
He would like to see my hair long and red. I am working to get my hair long with highlights. We talk about it, but I ultimately do as I wish.
Long hair? What a huge departure! I'd love to see that!
I am a big talker. My hair grows very slowly. I usually get fed up and cut it before it gets a chance to grow.

My hair was super dooper long before the wedding. I cut off 3 inches. Then after the wedding, I cut off 6 inches. It is still down to my bra in back.
I usually warn JW before I do anything drastic. When I added the bangs and layered it, I warned him big time. When I came home he said 'What did you do? I liked it long!' with this face I was thisclose to getting upset and he said 'just kidding, I love the new style'.
I made him play nice with me to make up for my hurt feelings. Neither of us slept much that night.
Oh yeah. I have never dyed my hair, only highlights. JW wants to see me with brown hair. I don't think it will work but I may try it someday.
