My hairdresser and I are at odds with this one. See, I need to wash my hair everyday to wake up! My hair is very fine and barely holds a style, so she thinks it makes sense to not wash it - or at least, wash it without conditioning. Yikes, I can't imagine that.
So...what are you doing for the big day? ugh I hate the idea of not washing it...and I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference in styling for me. No matter what, my hair is flat and lifeless!

i was told to wash it the night before. not to put any gel or spray in the hair. don't ust a flat iron. the oil in the hair helps the updo

I washed it the night before and it was fine. My hair is also limp and blah, but I knew it would work out better that way.

Re: Your hair on the big day
I am.
I have had up-do's before when I washed my hair that morning and for me, it's totally fine.
I think it depends on who you are and how your hair is.
For me, I need to take a shower the morning of a day in order to feel clean-- otherwise, IDK, it's just not the same. So, when I had my trial I took a shower that morning and the same for all of my up-do's... it always worked out fine.
Maybe give it a try?

I actually have my trial tomorrow...and I haven't decided if I'll go hair dirty or hair clean. Blah...I never feel awake unless I wash my hair! And just like you, Danielle, I simply don't feel clean!!

Re: Your hair on the big day
I am getting my hair washed & blown out the afternoon before, so it is easier to style on the day of.

Re: Your hair on the big day
I was wondering the same thing...for me its an issue of how it will look at the rehearsal dinner. My hair dries with an awful half wave, half frizz naturually. I want to wash it, dry it, and then run a straight iron through it so it will look nice that night...my stylist doesn't want me to come with any product in it, or with it too straight the next morning, so i have to wash it again when I get home from the RD, hope it air dries over night (which it never does completely) then just shower in the am without getting it wet....such a pain!! She said not to blow it out because I am having it curled for the wedding......if it is still wet in the morning I am just going to blow the roots dry.....that being said, I did this for both of my trials (long story but my first stylist quit) and wasn't thrilled with all the wispy, frizzy pieces coming out of the curls....i think i might just blow it out a little after the rd to try to smooth it out a bit

Re: Your hair on the big day
No way am I washing it the morning of the wedding, lol. My hair takes FOREVER to dry (on it's own or assisted by rollers, hair dryer, and blower). Even if it didn't take long to dry, if I have it roller set and blow dried, my hair is SOOOOOOO soft that it won't hold a style at all. 'Dirty' hair will always hold a style better than clean hair - the oil in the hair helps the style hold better.
I am having big curls done in my hair, so I am having it washed and dried one-two days before the wedding so that Mia can style it properly on the day of.

Re: Your hair on the big day
I'm washing it the night before, she said having some oil in it helps it stay up better. And my hair will be pulled so tight and have so much hairspray in it - I don't think I'll notice it's a little dirty!

Re: Your hair on the big day
I'll wash it the day before. First of all it takes forever to dry completely and secondly when my hair is just washed it's too soft to style well.

Re: Your hair on the big day
I always wash it the morning that I'm getting it done. Like some of you who previously posted, I just don't feel totally clean unless my hair is washed, then again, my hair doesn't take long to dry at all, if it did maybe I'd feel differently.
All the hairdressers who've done my updos just put a texturizer in it or some sort of styling putty that gives that 'dirty' feeling that they need to play with it and put it up so it'll stay, and I've never had a problem. I wouldn't worry about it, wash if it that's what will make you happy that day!!

Re: Your hair on the big day
I just got my hair done for my friend's wedding yesterday and I also have fine hair. I was nervous about not washing it but honestly, it worked out great. I Loved my hair (it was the side bun pic of michelle williams in album) and it held all day. My hair was not oily at all, probably from all the hairspray.

Re: Your hair on the big day
I washed my hair. My hair is really oily, so I have to wash it every day, because if I don't my head gets itchy. Besides, I ran that morning so my hair was wet and sweaty anyway.
Yes, I've heard the thing that your hair holds a style better if it's not washed, but it doesn't apply to everyone. If it makes you happy to wash your hair, do it.

Re: Your hair on the big day
I am washing my hair the day before. So, I can keep the natrual oils in my hair. My hair is so soft. It is easier for the hairdresser to work on day old washed hair.

Re: Your hair on the big day
Thin hair they say wash it day of or it can be too flat and get greay. Thicker hair they say you can wash night/day before.
Im def washing that morning.

totally know what you mean -- I ended up going with my hair dirty -- but a shower without washing your hair just isn't the same.
