Your Kleinfelds Shopping Experience?
Was it worth the trip into brooklyN?I know they have a LARGE variety and so many brands.
I've been going to shops in my area and they really aren't showing me enough of what I'm interested in. Only one shop I loved the dresses at but, they were only strapless and I really want to try on a bit more before deciding.
I decided that I must go to Kleinfelds - and if I find the dress there that I Love I'm wondering what your experiences were with alterations, fittings, extra charges, etc...
Thanks for any info you may have.

Re: Your Kleinfelds Shopping Experience?
I got my dress at Kleinfeld's. Since it's another 9 1/2 months until my wedding, I can only tell you about my experiences so far. I went to several other shops first, and none of them had any of the dresses that I had taken time to cut out of magazines. They kept showing me dresses 'like' the wants I liked, but they really weren't. Kleinfeld's had EVERY dress that I wanted to try on. The women were absolutely wonderful to work with. They told me that my appointment was for 1 hour, but I was there for several hours trying on tons of dresses- some two, three and four times. They told me that the dress would be in about 2 months before my wedding. I explained to them that I'd really like to have the dress come in before I start studying for the bar exam (I don't even want to worry that it is the wrong dress or anything like that when I'm studying), so they changed my 'wedding date' on the contract, and my dress will be in, and I will have my first fitting in May, rather than July or August. Also, alterations are a flat fee...so no matter how much work they have to do, or how complicated you decide you want your bustle, they can't charge you more.

Re: Your Kleinfelds Shopping Experience?
I really liked Kleinfelds as well.. While they may not have been as luxurious as some other salons I looked at-- all the consultants are sweet and motherly and you cannot beat their selection.. It's really not that bad of a drive either.I would request audrey or margaret as a consultant.
ETA-- this is where I got my dress. .

Re: Your Kleinfelds Shopping Experience?
i went there and was expecting great things - honestly i had no budget for my dress but told the saleswoman to bring me everything that would look good on me (sorry i don't remeber who i worked with) she seemed to say the lower brands were not worth trying on. I brought her of a dress that i liked at another store to get an idea of what i liked - i did not want to try it on again and of course she brought it out. She would listen to me - there was one dress i brought a pic that i really wanted to try - i had to ask three times before she finally brought it. She also got mad at me when i tried one dress and dismissed it quickly because once i saw it one i realized a friend was wearing itSorry so long but for me the trip was not worth it- i actually liked rk bridal better (on a weekday morning) but it all matters on the salesperson - i have heard of lots of people getting their dresses their.
i just wanted to tell you i didn't do well
i honestly liked bridal reflections and priscilla better

Re: Your Kleinfelds Shopping Experience?
You'll get a diff. answer from everyone. When I went with my girlfriend, every part of it was fantastic. So when I started the search for my dress, I went there first, I on the other hand did not have a great experience. Dealt with a girl that didnt seem to have a clue about wedding dresses, my MOH and I got so fed up I put the robe and walked around myself and started looking for dresses. It didn't work out for me, but it's worked for others.... I think you are better off there if you deal with the older women...I ended up purchasing my gown at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. So far the service has been fantastic....I hope I can say the same when the dress arrives...

I went there and did not have a good experience either. I think it really depends on your salesperson. I don't remember the name of mine.I do think it's worthwhile going there, though. They have a large selection of dresses. Try to get recommendations for saleswomen to request.

Re: Your Kleinfelds Shopping Experience?
Kleinfelds has a lot of variety and they showed me a lot of different dresses. My only complaint is that it was REALLY crowded and people kept walking on my veil
Of course, this was the ONLY time I'd gone dress shopping on a Saturday so it might have been like that at any place. Also, the woman who was helping me brought in 5 lace dresses at first even though none of the pics I showed her had lace and I never said anything about liking it. After I told her that I wasn't into the lace, she brought in a lot of other nice dresses though. I did find that one of the dresses I liked was about $500 cheaper at Wedding Salon though. If you go, make a day of it and have lunch at Areo, a few blocks away. The food is SOOOO good !

Re: Your Kleinfelds Shopping Experience?
The first place I went to for dress shopping was Kleinfelds, and I wasn't that impressed. The lady that helped me was a bit pushy. She didn't get out the dresses that I had asked for. She kept asking for a deposit. I had to keep telling her I wasn't ready to make a decision. But other girls have had a great experience so who knows......
